But I'm not sure that's how it works. Does the NRD somehow allow Sideshow to "order on demand" from Medicom? I wouldn't blame them for wanting to do that, it just doesn't seem like their typical way of doing business.

I think Hot Toys and Medicom allow their buyers to select how much product they want. I couldn't see a company forcing Sideshow to buy, say 100 Luke's from them. I could see Sideshow getting 15 orders this month for the Luke and then ordering 20. The 15 orders should be confirmed because of the NRD and then they can sell 5 other pieces to window shoppers.

That's just the way I think it works. I could be wrong and I doubt Sideshow would tell us how they do business.

I am pretty sure like anything being sold through distribution you encourage larger volume orders through pricebreaks and savings on shipping.

Yeah, I assumed that bulk orders are pretty common practice between Sideshow and other companies. If they started ordering small amounts in a piecemeal fashion, that would drive prices up even higher than they were before.

But it may not be in Sideshow's interest to sell Medicom products at all anymore. That's why I'm thinking the NRD could be a step toward telling Medicom to take a hike.

*Clicks on thread wondering how he missed this... Medicom and Enterbay, high hopes for a true competitor to HT*

*Sees pictures*

*Makes a clean getaway*

Just saw in the FS section a Medi Anakin for $80 and Han Solo for $65... just a bit below retail :lol Unless the ES is ridiculously low... which I highly doubt; this will easily settle around the $125 mark IMO.

I may consider it when it gets clearanced down to $50. Maybe.

I haven't scoured the entire thread but it seems as if the majority of criticism revolves around the sculpt, which is the first thing that stands out, but the color of the pants and maybe the boots (hard to tell with the pants being so weird) looks really, really off as well.... To me it's not as if there's some major parts that can/will upgrade any of our existing Lukes, aside from the light saber.

If they were smart they would *just* make the lightsaber and sell it. I bet they would sell many more of those at 15 bucks a pop than they're going to sell of the 300 dollar Lukes.

The head sculpt is the most glaring defect, but the plastic boots are a disgrace and the color of the pants is completely off IMO.
As stated previously, the only worthwhile element seems to be the lightsaber.

Yeah, I think the off sculpt is the part that really jumps out at you. But the boots look awful and it does seem like the pants are an odd color. On the plus side the tunic an belt look good :lol

The NRD on a $300, non-exclusive 1/6 scale figure is weird to me. Maybe they are trying to dissuade folks from buying because they know it is a bad idea, and want evidence to convince Medicom to stop production?

The price is what is stating the NRD, they've done NRDs for a lot of their imports after its been enacted when the price gets too high. Their insurance that they won't have a ton sitting around for ages. When SSC stated no NRDs for 1/6 figures they must have just been referring to themselves...either that or they didn't think this would cost that much. There isn't NRDs for the Daft Punk Tron characters which are $229 a piece but there is for Sam Flynn and his Lightcycle which is $299. That must be the magic number for the NRDs.
