Just imagine how ace this would be.

Then we'd have a full collection for the final duel.

Not only that but we'd see a glut of Trainspotting customs - LOL!

I'd really like them to do a rooted plait for the Padawan Braid though.

I agree.

Obi-Wan is one of the few characters that I'd like to have EVERY version of (along with Vader, Anakin, and Palpatine).

Of course! I don't doubt that he'll be the first repeat 12" character.

I want old man Obi... I don't want any more PT figures unless its toasted Anakin.

I agree completley. I want A.G. Kenobi. I think I'm one of few who doesn't want Padawan Obi, but I can't afford to get all the 12" and the only Kenobis I want are ROTS (which I havecoming) and ANH. I just want more OT MOOOREE! Plus that poney tale just takes away all sorts of coolness.

I'm working on a full fledged OWK shrine, so yeah, sure, bring him on. I'm waiting for a MR to make an FX TPM Obi saber.

Would anyone buy SS versions of the POTJ Obi-Wan in snow gear, or QGJ in black leather? I think they're awesome outfits, even if not canon.

I want a Ep. 1 Obi, but not for a few years. The Hasbro Episode 1 Obi-Wan had a great facial sculpt and a great costume. All it was lacking was articulation. Put the Hasbro head on a Sideshow body and boom! an amazing custom to last you til 2008 :lol

P.S. I definitely think we will get a ANH Ben next year for the 30th anniversary. So that would put an Ep. 1 Obi into the next year.

 As if Hasbro can be on par with a Sideshow Padi-Wan.

Okay, we have had the obligatory Hasbro bashing... do you feel better now?
I never claimed that Sideshow's Ep. 1 wouldn't be better than Hasbro. However, Hasbro made some decent figures in their line. The bad outweighted the good... however, I will give them credit where its due.

Dooku
Ep. 1 Obi-Wan
Ep. 1 Anakin (I really do not need another kid Ani)
C3-PO (Sorry, I do not need another.. other than minor articulation, he's set)
R2-D2
Zuckuss

There are a few others, but those were, and still are, nice figures. Why should Sideshow start re-making those when there are plenty of other characters that Hasbro FUBARed in 1/6 scale?

My list is long but here's the top
ANH Ben Kenobi (God, all of their attempts were utter crap)
Padme (any version... just no BARBIE bodies)
Basically ANY female character Hasbro did
Tarkin
Greedo
AOTC Anakin
ANH Han
Lando

And the list goes on....

My point, remake the crap jobs Hasbro did, before messing with the decent sculpts they did.

I always thought that Hasbro Episode 1 Obi-Wan figure was one of the better figures they did. It was one of the first SW 12 inch figures I bought.

I agree completely Josette. And I plan to "retire" the Hasbro Maul and Qui-Gon when they are released by Sideshow for my diorama. However, Hasbro Obi will remain right where he is.

P.S.
If nothing else, Hasbro gave us some great 12" scale vehicles/ creatures to use with our Sideshow figs:

Speeder bikes
Tauntaun
Maul Sith Speeder
Kaadu
Dewback

I am just waiting for our first Hoth Han or Luke so I can bust out my MIMB of them on Tauntaun and display them in a natural riding position :D

Well, it's definately worlds behind of the quality I look for.

Right and Sideshow NEVER makes sub-standard figures *cough* Willow, Faith, Pamela Vorhees, etc. *cough*

Okay, that probably wasn't fair. Sideshow FUBARS are the exception, not the rule. But I would be willing to bet my pitiful Psych minor that you are letting your hatred of Hasbro cloud your judgement on the Obi-Wan. Yes, they definitely made a bunch of crap.. but Ep. 1 Obi-Wan wasn't one of them.

I have the ANH Kenobi and its actually pretty good - I'm thinking about a repaint, body, boot, sabre and cloak swap. The main problem with the figure is the crappy hands and articulation, as well as the oversized boots - but these were common to all Hasblow figures.

I understood Tarkin was a pretty good figure too.

Yeah, Hasbro Apprentice Obi was pretty good... I didn't think the sculpt was that close to Ewan, but still a solid effort for that low of a cost. That being said, I would still love to see another one done with a more accurate sculpt. I don't care when, just eventually.

Obi is one of the few characters that I will seriously buy each and every incarnation of him. Alec Guinness set the bar for supporting characters IMO with him, and Ewan took that and built upon the legend of Obi-Wan. He's the real hero of the saga in my mind, the perfect Jedi.

I wouldnt mind a padawan Obi-Wan (it would go nice with Qui-Gon), but hopefully next year we will get ANH Vader and Obi-Wan with it being the 30th aniversary and all. I hope Vader and and Obi are inclusives with Vader coming with an Interrigator Droid as the inclusive accessory and Obi-Wan a training remote. That would be great.

100% agreed!! I need no less than 3 Obi-Wans in my collection!!!!

One to pose with Qui-Gon
One to pose with Anakin
One to pose with ANH Luke(when we get him)

Tarkin was okay.. but the actor had such amazing "character lines" i.e. wrinkles that the Hasbro figure didn't capture all that well. Also, never was too fond of that uniform. I have to disagree on the Obi Wan. The POTF2 one was okay. The Saga one looked amazing in prototype form. However, the painted production one was pure crap. Sure, I have seen it repainted and it looks great. But I thought we were talking about "out of the box" figures... not ones with potential.

Being next year is the anniversary of the first Star Wars, does anyone think
Sideshow will focus on characters from the original movie only? It would not hurt my feelings if they did.

That would be great if they did only make OT characters for this year. We are only going to get three OT characters this year, Luke, Han, and Bib. So maybe make 3 PT characters and then 8 OT characters to go with Jabba and Leia
