Being next year is the anniversary of the first Star Wars, does anyone think
Sideshow will focus on characters from the original movie only? It would not hurt my feelings if they did.

Since they start off the year with Bib, Leia and some slug, I would say they are.

Thats what I am praying for... but my wallet is hoping for some PT in there as well.

Episode I Obi would be a pass for me... don't get me wrong he'sone of the best parts of the movie, but I'll already have a PT version of him from ROTS (my preferred version) and then I just need an ANH version. Although if they somehow came out with a translucent blue ghost version, I might be swayed to buy a third :monkey5

I do have a feeling we'll be seeing quite a few OT characters this next year... we've already got all the SDCC announced figures are OT. But I do hope we get a nice variety of Heroes, Jedi, Sith and Scum :chew :emperor

Overall Ill buy anything Sideshow releases but if I could pick the Obi-Wan I want next it would be ANH followed by Ep1 then Ep2. So does anyone think that Sideshow could do a Spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi

Word for word exactly what I think.

and just the opposite. Spirit figures would be lame, me thinks. :cool:

Not sure how they would do the clothes on a blue ghost. The cloths and the body would need to be see through.

Im not saying it wouldnt be lame I just wonder if they would even be able to do it. Hasbro has made so far 3 of them in 3 inch line. The last one was the best of any of the spirit figures, and was pretty cool. I dont think the spirit figures would translate well to 12" the way Sideshow creates their figures. I guess they could spray paint a regular ANH Obi with blue paint

Thats what always bugged me about Hasbro's force ghost figures. The force ghosts are never blue... They are normal looking with a luminescence to them. The blue just makes them look like crappy holograms or something.

Don't forget Boba and Luke/Yoda are the 2 PF. But all of this would mean they are going for the original trilogy.

I'm really looking forward to TPM Obi-Wan. I think he'll be one of the toughest head sculpts in the entire line to nail. Just Ewan McGregor's face with short spikey hair.

No big hairstyle, beard, or make-up to divert your attention from any imperfections in the likeness. He'll either be young Ewan or he won't. An incredible challenge.

For similar reasons that's why Andy's Leia Boushh is so amazing.

That could be cool. I wouldn't mind having everything set up for a EI final duel. I had originally planned to just have Maul paired with Jinn, and to leave it at that. But I won't cry foul if Sideshow wants to do a repeat. :D

man i got really excited when i read the topic title. i havent been on all weekend and came back to see this. i've always said i wanted this version since they announced the qui gon. now that qui gon and maul are coming out this figure IS a lock in for sure. its just a matter of when not if. this IMO will be one of the greatest PT figures if SS can pull it off correctly.

~~~imagine the display possibility if they release a padawan anakin later. how cool would that be??
Obi-Wan is probably the most important character in Star Wars next to Vader and Luke. He's the only character other than Anakin/Vader to appear in every single film-- I'd buy one from the Phantom Menace without a doubt. I'll buy an Old Ben when he comes out, too. The only Kenobi I'd probably pass on would be from Clones. That space mullet was out of control.
I agree... while I enjoyed the fact that they finally gave the man a beard in AOTC, that mullet was SCARY! :horror
Especially since the pickup shots were using a horrible fake beard and wig. It looked like crap, I can still pick those shots out instantaniously every time I see that movie.... :monkey2
I really think that Obi-Wan Kenobi was the best things going on in the Prequel Trilogy. Ewan McGregor played Obi-Wan beautifully throughout the prequels and I thought his character was the most interesting character. I sometimes find myself skipping scenes on the DVD just to get to the part were Obi-Wan is. I really never like Anakin too much and the love story annoyed me. I want all 4 versions of him made and as quickly as possible.
You can also tell when he had the fake hair in Episode One. He was filming Black Hawk Down at the time of the re-shoots and had no hair to film. :monkey2
Those shots are equally wince-inducing. :eek:
Episode III is the only prequel devoid of this problem. And it's the better film for it. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3
But ANY version of Master Kenobi rendered by Sideshow is welcome in my book... even the mullet version (even though technically it's not a mullet). :rolleyes:
Just out of curiosity, one of those shots wouldn't happen to be where Obi-Wan is apologizing to Quigon for not supporting him in front of the Jedi Council (when they just arrive back at Naboo)? That scene has always bugged me because Ewan looks strange.
Yeah, that would be one! I notice it too everytime.... :lol
The most obvious scene in AOTC would be the Kamino bits... it jumps back and forth between pickup shots and initial production... and man can you ever tell. At least Ewan sold it pretty well. I'll have to give him that. His acting wasn't bad, just the wig.
And yeah Proto.... ROTS thankfully was devoid of this problem. He had a fake beard (partial) for the pickups, but you can hardly tell unless you look close. And the film is much better for it.
one day it'll be made for sure.But as of now I can't wait till the rots version and a possible anh version to come.
