For the price what were you guys expecting? HT and IA got us all spoiled here.

For the price this isn't a train wreck like some people are making it out to be.

To be honest, i don't think it's that bad, for the price tag, the hair just need a bit gel and stylish

I am tempted to see how they did this silicon sculpt with rooted hair. There was a similar figure announced not long ago seems using the same tech but they price it 3X penguin price tag

To get that whispy look I'm thinking I'll pull all that stick hair. Then rehair it myself. The stock hair does look like too much and brown? I'll replace with black tibetan lambs fur.

This is why I’ve been hesitant on third party figures in the past.

For all the crap people like to give licensed companies like Hot Toys when they have a miss they’re generally at least fairly close to the prototype.

This feels like a lot was changed and yeah, a bit like a bait and switch. At least it wasn’t super expensive but still if it had been shown as is I would have passed. Guess I shouldn’t have paid right away.

Yowza, glad I waited. In terms of quality, it's kind of like an upscaled 1/12 figure. On the plus side, although nylon, it looks like this figure has actual rooted hair so for once people will be accurate when using that bloody term. Rooted hair is sewn in folks (hence rooted) otherwise it's just glued hair.

Can't wait to see what the customizers do to improve this guy. I see potential.

Yeah - this is majorly disappointing.
Big bait and switch from the proto - I suppose the warning signs were there given its so early, the company seems to have taken more pre-orders than there are Penguins for sale, and it being a pretty much brand new company - but we all wanted this to be real/good so much after so many years of waiting so I totally understand the real level of genuine dissapointment and heartache over this release.
I feel gutted to be honest, I was looking forward to this so much.

Not to say its unsalvageable - frankly I think if you have the skill, time or money for a good repaint that would solve most of the problems and make a drastic improvement.
The hair needs a dark wash/paint, but once thats done and you run through a little gel or grease and separate it into stringy strands it ought to look quite a bit better.
Padding the body ought not be that hard.
He definately needs a new hat though - looking at my old Mime Nicholson Joker I'm pretty sure now the hat used in those prototype pictures is from that figure.
Sadly the different/incorrect hands is something I have no idea how to address - I hope the gloved hands have the flipper look rather than these 5 chubby digits...

The rocket penguins look good though! [may try to find them parted out to display with my HT Returns Keaton]
Would be nice to see more of the umbrella - but so far that looks good too.

Yikes. Looks like what you would see from a Star Ace figure in terms of downgrade here, maybe even worse honestly with all of the clothing changes. Don't think better photography is gonna change much but hoping for the best for those of you that already paid for it. The prototype looked too good to be true for the price they were charging for unfortunately. The wait for Mars version continues..

Gotta say, the only good thing about this debacle is that Mars may see the failure of this figure as a good incentive to get their version out there and move along with creating a prototype - its now clear that there is a good market for Devito Penguin [given the demand outpacing the stock for this release] and now there isn't another 1/6 Penguin cutting into their slice of the pie.

Fatsuit needs extra padding- easy mod
Sculpt needs a repaint, or at least a gray / white wash to tone down the pink

Hair looks too full, but that might just need futzing or even remove some if so.

The rest looks like simply fitzing to get the neck to sit proper (will definitely look better with additional padding)

For the price this isn't a train wreck like some people are making it out to be.

As the only mass-produced 1/6 Penguin, this is the Greatest Penguin available
