Or, to put it in an other way, buying from an local retailer will most likely be cheaper from now on. Perhaps that's exactly what Sideshow wants, that people buy more of their stuff from their (authorized) retailers - "The Sideshow (Collector-friendly) retail network". It has advantages for SSC, no doubt.

I would agree with this if there were no more Sideshow Exclusives alas... But those we still have to get directly from SS.

I have neither "gone on", nor have I suggested collectors should not expect courier costs to be less than the quotes they are receiving. However, I have suggested some collectors are deluding themselves by expecting unrealistically low fees.

Then why did SS post it on their site? If SS is giving examples on their site, then why are you telling various board members here that they are delusional/optimistic for believing them? If you want to go to the delusion card son, pull up a mirror.

You just don't seem to get it. What is your problem? You have four people calling you out and yet you continue on your rambling diatribe.

Seriously, are you a SS employee masquerading as a "regular" board member? :lol

In fairness to Trilogy who is a stand up guy I think he trying to say that SS quotes where never realistic.

The rest of us are just hoping he is wrong.

$8 to uk ........yeah right sideshow

processing email received 5 mins ago

Item name: 15-inch Sam Vinyl Figure
Item total: US$ 59.99
Ship cost: US$ 46.45*
Total: US$ 106.44*

Just had an email from sideshow for my Trick R Treat Sam which is $60 and they are asking $46.45 for shipping to England without vat import and fedex fees.

That is shocking where is the $8 shipping fee? I've cancelled it now total JOKE!!!

Wow! Sorry to hear that Jay and Karma and too bad both of you had to cancel. After hearing some of these stories I really feel for you folks. I had no concept of VAT/duties and other charges to people outside of the US until reading this thread from the beginning.

And just think, I was whining about paying $139.50 in shipping charges for the efX X-Wing display case from California to Minnesota.:horror Okay, I'm still mad about that display case charge.

No more cryin' from me after what you people have to put up with.:peace

Is this meant in jest or are you expecting this puerile nonsensical post to be taken seriously?

Okay, I may have been a bit harsh but that "delusional" comment was ought of line. In essence Trilogy had the gumption to say don't believe what SS writes on their own website.:peace:duff

Yes, clarification is required. Though I feel anyone how truly believed they were going to be charged $7.79 for an item to be shipped from the US to the UK via FedEx were fooling themselves.

Checking with the EU reps now about the $8 rate posted in samples. That is the original number that our shipping department pulled up but mistakes do happen. We would never post things to intentionally deceive people. Will post back on that soon.

Please understand in my previous post I explained about ALL the costs the EU collectors were not being charged. We ate them all, which could have easily been an additional $15 to $60 per order depending on the item. The rising costs of incompetent delivery services and 3rd party warehouses and their charges were GOING to be passed onto EU collectors. The prices were never going to be the same as what you had been receiving - period. We can only compensate so much to offset the additional fees customers are incurring through price breaks and additional discounts. We have been pretty straight forward to say that many of the rates will be close, some even better but we also said for some it will be more expensive. In these cases please contact us and we can try to point you to possible local locations.

The estimated arrival e-mails should now include the shipping costs to give everyone enough time to make their final purchasing decisions. Feel free to e-mail us if you feel there is an error in your quote and we will recheck it! [email protected]!

I'm sorry, but that tune has slightly changed.
Firstly Sideshow made it out that they were doing this for our benefit.
Sideshow should have been honest with us in the first place, stating that it was for theirs, rather than backtracking later on.

After reading what my friends have been quoted, this is totally misleading

Quote from UK Warehouse:
SRP: $399.99
Freight: $25.89
Subtotal: $425.88
VAT @ 17.5%: $74.53
TOTAL: $500.41

Quote from US Warehouse (via FedEx)
SRP: $399.99
Freight: $25 (updated 1/7/10)
Subtotal: $424.99(Payable to Sideshow)

Duty (0%-6.5%): $0.00
VAT @17.5%: $74.37
FedEx Service Fee: $10.00 (*estimated)

Total Est. Customs: $84.37 (Payable to carrier)
TOTAL: $509.36 + $25 Gift Card

There is no way a Vinyl Sam should cost more than a Blackbeard PF to Deliver

Hi chicky.

1/ In futur will sideshow add automaticaly freebies in package as my last in stock order don't came with free ornament and the time Eu customer service replied the freebies were sold out.
Perhaps when sideshow give freebies, just add option box on ordering page to let customer choose if he want it.
Will save time for all of us (for customer and EU rep).

2/I really hope sideshow will expand reward point for international customer and give them double rewarded points on item like Premium format, comiquette, 12"... all under 1000$.

3/ I don't understand your shipping quote.
For France sideshow send me this:
Diorama gandalf vs Balrog weitght 49LB --> 60$77 shipping
Diorama Blade vs Dracula weight 50LB ---> 50$91 shipping
12" Hot Toys weight 13LB ---> 37$45 shipping
And one french customer told us he paid 8$ for a Iron man Mark II life Size bust.
Don't understand why balrog/gandalf diorama is higher as fedex write the same weight and this diorama box is smaller.
Shipping quotes depend on weight?? or sideshow charge higher shipping when they want and smaller when they want

My story:

Ordered Creture form Black Lagoon full size bust in Black Friday. Got it for $240!

ON the day my order was charged I had a problem with the card but Sideshow Customer Dept held my order for 10 days untill everything was cleared.

I got a quote for the bust for $70, wich is a very very good price in my mind. The Spanish Post Office would charge me twice o trice that amount to send the same parcel to the USA. Fantastic price.

Total for order $240+$70=$310 (roughly 200 euros)

Order is deliverred on the same day I pay and it takes only 7 days to get home. Fast delivery

Now onto the best part. Sideshow has declared the item as a limited edition statue. As per Spanish regulations for Customs and Imports, statues pay no import taxes and only 8% VAT. Thank you Sideshow and thank you Spanish Customs Regulations!

I got charged 14 euros for VAT and 15 euros for Fed Ex fare as import agents. 14+15=29 euros.

To help Sideshow spanish customers make their calculations (and even Sideshow itselft to make calculations or answer questions from spanish customers)

Statues, Busts, Premium Format figures delivered to Spain will be charged:
A.- Customs VAT. 8% over total sum of figure value plus shipping
B.- Fed Ex Administrative Expenses. 2.50% calculated over Customs VAT(minimum 13.50 euros). Plus VAT 16% over this amount.

Other toys (plastic figures, 12" ...)
A.- Customs VAT. 16% over total sum of figure value plus shipping. Toys made in China pay no Import Fares.
B.- Fed Ex Administrative Expenses. 2.50% calculated over Customs VAT(minimum 13.50 euros). Plus VAT 16% over this amount.

In conclusion, this change of policy is all for good for spanish customers if you are going to order any Statue, Bust, Premium format. We get:
-Faster Delivery (1 week instead of 4!)
-Great saves in customs! 8% VAT plus Fed Ex fare (cheap if you have ever gone to the trouble of making all customs paperwork yourself, go to the customs office and spend 3 hours there....)

For toys you will have to make your calculations. Depending on the shipping cost you may get a better price if you buy in european stores. Keep in mind that if the total cost of the order is less than 150 euros we do not pay any import VAT or FED EX administravive charges.

Signing off.

Sounds as if due to the paperwork specifying the correct description and your countries import policies, this is most definitely a winning situation for you and other collectors in Spain.

Indeed! Sideshow clearly specifies in the customs declaration attached to the parcel "statues" and that implies only 8% VAT :)

Again thanks Sideshow for caring!

Ive accepted its gonna cost alot more and sideshow dont owe us anything :( probably should have realised that from the start but the way sideshow went about things didnt really help. I know sideshow are a stand up company and do more for there customers then any buisness ive known and probably dont deserve the flack they've gotten, again things could have been handled better if they hadnt gone with the "better for us" tone. Apologies to dusty and chicky for the flack that has been directed there way undeservedly by taking the brunt of the angry european mob :lol.
