Right you are, dedguy.

I don't know when this show was, but it was more recent than the last pics we saw of the Triad EVA/EVO bodies.

Those showed the Samuel L Jackson, Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman heads. And other products from Triad.

This stuff is new.

Also there is another new body that is shown with the ninjas. It has all the articulation points and is more for clothed figures.

Right, dedguy. Triad has two more body lines planned. The Otaku bodies are for "best viewing" with lowest (20-point) articulation because the torso is a single unbroken piece.

These are new photos, (thanks Sachiel) and some are of the EVAlution (EVA female, EVO male) figures. There might be a sample of the third line, Alpha, among the ninjas but I can't tell because Triad has said next to nothing about that line. The ninjas may be on Soldier Story bodies. I don't own any of those so it's hard to know from a photo.

The ankle, wrist, and hip joints are blacked out because that's what's holding them up -- whatever the Triad guys have designed, they aren't letting it out until all their patents are approved and done. Same for the moveable eye design they released a couple of years back and have stopped making for now (I have one and it's completely different than Enterbay's, and much easier to manipulate).

This is a small company to watch.

oops sorry. i got the Eva and Otakus mixed up. well heck why didn't they make the upper arms of the Otakus looks like these newest pic. i'd love that.

I'd never heard that about Soldier story, but neither that body or the Triad one with the black squares seems to have joints like the Triad proto with the Anakin head.

I have heard stories of Chinese factories selling off molds to other companies or just producing additional runs of something after the official run.

When i saw the new Soldier Story s2 body i thought it was closer to Hot toys than triad.

Solider Story really need to update there body to compete with Hoy Toys and ACE. It looks to me like a few companys bodys are starting to look similar as they all try to beat each other.

Wow.
People are getting pretty sensitive over there.
I don't know... the only really different thing I see in the Evo/Eva body type is the way the bodies are painted.
Other than that, it's just an amalgam of many other bodies we've seen over the years.
I mean, the shoulders look like HT and Medicom, the knees and elbows are just and upgrade of the double-jointed idea we've seen for years (and the elbows look a lot like the HT elbows), the ankles/feet are similar to what HT do, the wrists look like BBI G3.5 and on and on.
It just seems a bit blown out of proportion.
But maybe that's just me.

I can perfectly understand when an true independent start up like Triad feels like they got ripped off. I'd be pissed too.

However there are just so many ways to make a 1/6 body. It does seem like rather than make an almalgam like Sideshow did with the Prometheus, Soldier Story just took everything from the Evo. It would really be a kick in the *** if they didn't even re-tool and are just using the dies that Triad paid for.

To me, this looks very much a different case than when other new bodies have been compared to older bodies.

Sideshow's Prometheus obviously draws inspiration from Volk's NeoGuy while at the same time obviously being entirely new in it's sculpt. Just some of the ideas are borrowed/stolen from an existing body which is to be expected. As many (including myself from time to time) have noted, there's only so many ways to put together a body.

This new Soldier Story body on the other hand, at least to my eyes doesn't look like it draws inspiration from other sources. It looks like many of the pieces are directly cast from existing bodies (Hot Toys and Triad). Because of this, to me it looks very piece meal. The legs do not match the upper body in terms of sculpt or articulation style. I could be completely wrong here but that's what it looks like to me.

I know this thread has been buried for a while, but I just read up on this issue a couple of days a go.
It's pretty evident that Soldier Story's S2 body steals all but the arms directly from Triad's EVO body. The arms are direct copies of Hot Toy's arms. I think Triad has every right to be pissed and sue.
The fact that the factory that produced Soldier Story's figures produced the first defunct EVO production figures leads me to highly suspect that the factory just gave the molds they were supposed to have destroyed to Soldier Story. That and the fact that Soldier Story stole BBI's G3.5 body and Lady's Mission bodies for their first figures shows they have a history of doing this.
I hope Triad wins their case, it'd be a shame to see all the hard work done by Callous and Triad stolen out from under them before they even get their products out to market.

Agreed. Triad is a great company, they deserve to have this to themselves until it is released. They do quality work. I just got a Neo from them today and it is STELLAR. The headpaint alone is amazing, best I have ever gotten from a company. Better than I could hope to accomplish as well.

I want this company to go far, I know they can.

Which one did you get?

Please give us some pics. I am dying to get the new Otaku female bodies so seeing pics of a Neo or EVO would ease my pain...

I posted pics in my thread... It's the Triad (Neo) Theodore regular edition. I wish they would go ahead and finish the bodies though... I can't wait to order like 20 of them. :lol

Thank you and I guess I will have to check out your threads. I'm with you on the new bodies. It's like if Triad makes them they way they look as proto types I might have to order a bunch to replace all of my female figure bodies. Can't wait.

The thing I am really shocked about, is how great that head paint is. It's stunning in person, definitely the best that any company has ever sent me. I guess you can get that kind of quality with a 100 figure limit. But still... it's really amazing. Triad rules.

The Theodore headpaint is truly a thing of beauty; mine also arrived today and I'm ecstatic that I tracked this down.

With what appears to be a Trinity headsculpt on their upcoming "Lucia" figure and an appropriate outfit separately available, it looks like they're carrying through to "make all his friends". Bring on the Moore Pheus figure....

I got mine yesterday as well. I got Colin a couple of weeks ago, so I wasn't as surprised by the quality of the paint work, but that doesn't make it any less amazing. There's a subtlety to the skin tone that's impossible to see in pics. I can't wait to see what they have in the works.

Sorry for the crappy flash pic, but I have yet to find a good light source for my Detolf.
