For the record, I never liked McDonald's hamburgers, I much preferred In-N-Out.For the record, I never liked Kirstie Alley's Saavik, I much preferred Robin Curtis.
Saavik from the novelisation would totally have joined the traitors. She had anger management issues. I do agree that it would not have been appropriate for Saavik to play out the way Valeris did (murdering the co-conspirators might need a tweak as I think Saavik should have been given a more redemptive arc) and I think Kirk appealing to her shared love for David rather than a forced mind meld would have been more fitting. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see either Alley or Curtis again.I would not put it past a half-Romulan who saw her friend get murdered, but that heritage was never made explicit in the films.
If her and Kirk had a scene bonding over their shared grief toward the beginning of the movie, only to find themselves on opposing sides in the end, that would have packed a punch.
Looking forward to the Saavik figure. If they do not get around to Valeris….no great loss for me.
Hmmm...my initial plans on just getting TWOK Kirk and Spock are evaporating. Might be down for a bunch of movie era figs too now that I see plans for Saavik and Chang.Uniform looks great! Can’t wait for Saavik!
The extreme irony for me is that for the longest time I was only a casual Star Trek fan and hard-core Star Wars. Yet I never made that connection and always assumed it was a different character. Maybe it was because I didn't expect another recasting and the way they brought her in didn't feel like a continuation. Idk maybe I just had an extra large bowl of Wheaties that day or large amounts of caffeine but it made sense to me!Well I am happy they didn’t turn Saavik bad. I liked Alley & Curtis. I preferred Curtis but would be happy with either or both.
Disco Doc after Spock. What will the other “immediate release” characters be? I would very much like the Kolinar Spock but I’m getting tired of the drama and would like to rest for a while after that and preorder TWOK when they become available to do so .
He's not until next year.Disco Doc after Spock.
I always saw that as her working her way up to that - while she was training as the Captain of her Cadet crew she obviously still had to work her way up the ranks otherwise it would have needed a Kelvin style jump over every experienced officer to maybe a XO position.Something I still don't quite understand is how we saw Saavik clearly on this command path to Captain in TWOK (taking the Kobayashi Maru, commanding the bridge while Kirk was away), and yet in the next movie there's no mention of that at all and she's simply a science officer who's now an expert on the Genesis Project for some reason.
It's just like a completely different character.
I didn't say otherwise. He said "What will the other “immediate release” characters be?"He's not until next year.
Probably "The Cage" figures, "Discovery" Pike, and some other characters Nanjin feels wouldn't sell enough to warrant a full production run like the pre-order figures. What will the other “immediate release” characters be? Nanjin's most recent post says 'might' be next week.Is the general consensus/rumor that Kolinahr Spock won't be up this week?
It is his recent “logistical” statements re: Kolinar Spock that sets that anxiety in motion. The thing sells out during the 45 minutes that I’m on the road or in a dental chair I will be quite sad. I would hope I could catch up with Sideshow or Cotswold but that may not be easy either.Probably "The Cage" figures, "Discovery" Pike, and some other characters Nanjin feels wouldn't sell enough to warrant a full production run like the pre-order figures.
This is what I was concerned about with his FB post. I feel the same way you do; I love just being able to relax, pre-order the figures as they are announced and actually being able to enjoy my hobby. All this sweating and stressing sucks the fun right out of it. It would be my luck there would be several characters I really want (Yar, "The Cage" characters, Pike, Rand, Chapel, just for some examples) would be immediate purchase and I'd miss out somehow. It would make me seriously rethink getting into this line.
Todd McFarlane. Other toy companies followed suit.Honestly I sometimes curse the day some brilliantly evil mind, likely at Sideshow, came up with the idea of manufactured limited editions and FOMO driven advertising. It works sure. But it's no way to have a "relaxing" hobby that takes your mind off your troubles. Really puts the FU in fundamental pleasures.
