I don’t dislike this young lady as an actress. I don’t think she is a poor actress. She just doesn’t quite convincingly translate the character that Nichelle Nichols created. She does SING very well in one of the later episodes and I think may have been cast for her singing voice which Nichols as Uhura did a few times in TOS. The other caryover character Nurse Chapel is completely wrongly designed and portrayed. I know it’s difficult to translate a prequel to a 1960s sci-fi series with the availability of modern day technology—- but I still find the design of the costumes and sets a bit disturbing.

I think the ship sets look fairly good (baring in mind the modernized effect to today’s standard) and they finally added some much needed lighting to the set vs. DISCO.

Just wanted to continue the veer off-topic . . . as I wanted to thank those of you above that encouraged me to give this another chance. S01E03 was better than the 1st 2 episodes, and LOVED E04 even though I didn't get to see THEIR version of the (* ahem *) beasties.

However, to bring it back on topic, I'm now looking forward even more to the figure of said alien, and may now pick up the SNW version of Pike. Love that fella (and all the other characters are growing on me too).

Awesome! Glad to hear you liked the later episodes, we need some half decent Trek to look forward to. I think the beasties show up again later at some point…

I’m thinking the same on figures, likely most interested in Pike and Spock though La’an is starting to shine.

I loved the series. It, plus Prodigy and Lower Decks, are the best of New Trek and worthy successors to the other series

I'm conflicted on it. The rooted barbie hair wasn't looking very good before, but the sculpted goatee and eyebrows weren't looking all that great either.

Have a feeling I'll end up rerooting it no matter what.

I would prefer rooted if they use finer "wool" type of material. The Barbie hair on the proto didn't look good.

I believe he’s said TWOK figures will be deluxe so they’ll be more. Not sure if there will be two options like with Sisko or not. I can see Khan and Kruge being more too since they have unique outfits and maybe rooted hair. I’ll be curious how the Borg Queen is priced being a statue.
