I suppose the bottom line is that it takes all kinds.
While I might hope that the project leader producing merchandise for a highly specialized market would have thick enough skin to humbly listen and interact in a positive way with fans, supporters, and customers while mentally pushing away the rantings of less than constructive trolls in good faith because the bottom line is WE ALL SHARE THE SAME GOAL.
But perhaps…perhaps, it is Nanjin’s very emotionalism that has allowed him to push past the barriers that a more objective and less passionate man might yield to when looking at producing a line of products that has the aforementioned narrow and highly specialized potential audience. After all, there’s very little evidence to suggest that high end Trek figures, regardless of the number of individual properties, would ever generate a client base that would come close to Marvel or Star Wars, for instance. And yet he has stepped forward and done just that….against all odds.
So maybe I should just SHUT UP and accept our good fortune. Despite my hopes for a more pragmatic and less sensitive Nanjin, maybe, just maybe, this is exactly the Nanjin we all need to keep making our collecting dreams come true.
