I unpacked Tuvok today. Boy Exo-6 puts thier "B" team on the Voyager figures. Mine has "the wonky eyes" and the sculpt/paint is soft like Janeway.

My Tuvok arrived today as well….wonky eyes and all. But he’s has great presence, and the likeness is spot on. You almost have to go looking for the eye issue to let it bother you.

As for discussing the issue on Facebook, I doubt it. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Anyone who appreciates Trek and is thrilled about collecting it in 1/6 owes Nanjin great appreciation and respect, because he has been the driving force in getting these very cool pieces to us across two companies now, and we all know full well that we would almost certainly not have these figures in our collections without him.

But he’s so sensitive and quick to snap the whip at anyone who fails to dutifully fall to their knees in abject subservience to his every move that people just don’t/won’t bring anything that could be taken as criticism to him….pretty much ever. And those who dare to break that rule are dealt with harshly, which is a shame in my book. We’d love to be thought of as partners in these endeavors instead of voiceless Thralls (see what I did there). So all most people do is avert his gaze if they have anything other than full throated praise for anything EXO-6 in their brains. I guess I’m just not as smart as everyone else…🤪

Anyway, Tuvok is awesome. Another triumph for EXO and Nanjin. I have him sitting in front of me as I type this up under soft subtle lighting, and I swear it’s mini Tim Russ looking back at me!

Cheers!

Well, it was constructive criticism that apparently pushed him away from this forum.

I think that the great majority of the Freaks posters in the Star Trek section of the forum have been both courteous and patient but at the same time honest with their posts. We all appreciate that he is providing us with these figures but to blindly ignore any issues is not what this forum has been about.

As your last sentence stated, Tuvok is fantastic. The wonky eye is a shame but not a deal breaker.

100% agree. I don't feel I am "savage" in my opinions. I think there is a lot done really well on this figure. The outfit, body and accessories are all amazing. They have just done better on the paint and sculpting....I point out only to help them stay consistent in their "museum" line of figure. I LOVE Star Trek.

…same reason I’ll collect a “Like” or two on the above, but I’m the only one dumb enough to say such things publicly

.

Or you pretty much nailed it, so those who agree with you don't have much to add. :)
There was a comment made by *Someone* on facebook a little while ago that Trek fans only like to complain, which struck me as a little ripe considering the massive amounts of praise lavished on these releases. The problem with those few who do criticize a little too insensitively is that actual constructive criticism gets shoved aside too.

To end on a positive note, these all look mostly amazing and we're all here looking to spend lots of money on them. I think that should be the main takeaway for anyone important who doesn't post here any more but might still be reading at some point.

Great picture.
Personally I think they’ve come a long way since the Janeway and Doctor release, their likeness was on the faint side, I definitely see Tim Russ in this release. I think your picture does the figure more justice than the pre-order promo shots.

Yep. As much as I appreciate Nanjin for what he’s done for us Trek fans I think he took things the wrong way often. Not sure if that was partly due to a language barrier or if he was super sensitive, but it was hard to say anything without him mostly focusing on the negative aspect of what was being said at times.

Have people been canceling?
It seems like it’s more of a small glitch and while not the home run of a Q or Mirror Sulu, people are appreciating the other good qualities of the figure. Hopefully the Exo-6 team learns from this, adapts and continues to improve like they have done with so many of their releases.

I have no dog in this fight, as I am not interested in the Voyager line, but I thought I would take a look at some pictures of Tuvok online. This image stuck out to me.

I think what's throwing people is the character's right eye is raised slightly due to the minor eyebrow arch in the sculpt and the actor's eyes seem a bit more uneven than most to start with. It seems like it would be a difficult head sculpt to paint.

I do agree that these Voyager figures seems to have "soft" paint apps overall. Janeway looks particularly plastic-y.

The "wonky eye syndrome" is honestly not due to the underlying sculpt but to the placement of the eye decals. I can only speak to my figure and the posts shared on this forum. Either they both should have been looking straight ahead or slightly to the right but not each eye looking in a different direction.

I'll stress that it isn't a Marty Feldmen-like issue but can be distracting to some.
