From CNN :

That could be one-sided gunfire, though, just on the police's end. But I don't remember any guns being used, just flash-bangs. I wasn't around as much for the time right before capture, so it's possible.

They also used floodlights named "Night Sun", which sounds all kinds of bad ***.

i saw a video on the news with police near the bought and a pretty serious firefight.

That was the night before when the two suspects had the firefight with police (and the one was shot/run over). They didn't find the dude in the boat until the next evening after they lifted the perimeter.

C'mon everybody! Internet witch hunt time! What could possibly go wrong? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...edia-student-brown-university-reddit/2112309/

This whole marathon bombing turned out to be a real black eye for the "news". Lots of unconfirmed stories and inaccuracies.

I was watching ABC news in New York the other day and one of the top stories was that Trisha Yearwood lost 30 lbs. The even interviewed doctors about her weight loss???? REALLY?????

Are there any reputable news sources left? If I have to hear one more story about Kim Kardashian and her ******* unborn child I'm gonna puke!

As a member of reddit, I can tell you this new story is misleading. Sunil Tripathi had been missing for a month before the Boston bombings. His disappearance was publicized, which lead to the speculation in some of the reddit community that perhaps Tripathi had gone MIA in order to coordinate the attacks. This was before the reveal of the Tsarnaev brothers' involvement. Tripathi's involvement was pure speculation, of course, as is a lot of information until investigations are complete. In all likelihood, Tripathi was dead long before the attacks.

I've seen some articles go so far as to claim that reddit's "witch hunt" lead to Tripathi's suicide, which is just as ridiculous as some members of reddit speculating his involvement in the bombings.

Hmm what's misleading? You say he has been missing, odd the article goes one step further they say a date(march 15). What I find misleading is you saying suicide, even though they have not determined when or how he died:slap

From CNN :

"several sources from different agencies familiar with the investigation said Thursday"

This is part of the issue with lack of inaccurate reporting. I wouldn't believe anything any news agency says with those sources. The media shouldn't be reporting anything that anybody says unless it's from the identified spokesperson(s) from the agencies leading the investigation, and only after they've compared notes. Media are so anxious to drill us with 24 hours of nothing but speculation and opinionated analyses that they have forgotten the basic principles of news reporting. And that goes for social media too. An ireporter is not a qualified journalist.

It's even worse now with social networking, everyone is constantly looking at their phones. Big news networks are getting some major business by giving people something to gossip about. It's sad though, most people are interested in that gossip entertainment crap vs something like science or a new discovery in the cure for cancer.

And that's what pisses me off. They turn all this serious, but sometimes mild, news into a soap opera. Makes it look and sound fake stupid. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a reality show when I turn the news on. Goofy!

What the heck do you think you are doing with your iPhone using tapatalk? :lol

In the last month, I read that scientists had effectively cured a baby of HIV and that they had identified the chemical cancer cells release to throw white blood cells off their scent. Both stories were brief flashes. If you blinked, you would have missed them.

Yeah, it's sensational journalism and yellow journalism. Gossipy entertainment = fun. Science and discovery = boring. I agree that it is sad. There was a time in our history when scientists were well respected, listened to and celebrated. Now it's more important to know that Justin Bieber might lose his pet monkey.

Who cares about that? Kim Kardashian's "baby bump" was starting to show!

The HIV story was amazing. :rock

Is anything going to come of these things though? I always seem to be reading about cancer breakthroughs - yet everyone's still dying or getting a $h!tty 5yr prognosis
