Super Freak
You're very optimistic. I don't think I've seen such a large majority manage to keep silent for quite so long, but stranger things have happened.
They have indeed

Force of good? I'm sorry but any good the US has done has been outweighed to my mind by a great many bads.
Unless your idea of good includes
- Nuking Japan twice to stop a war.
- The massacres of innocents in Vietnam
- The ongoing support and arming of Israel in their state sponsored terrorism of Palestinians, who are only trying to struggle for their promised land.
- Going to war with Iraq on fabricated grounds
- Selective promotion of democracy as it fits the needs of the time.
- Ongoing slaughter of innocent civilians in Pakistan through unmanned drones.
- Ongoing slaughter of innocent civilians in Yemen through unmanned drones.
- creation of Bin Laden and his band of fools under misguided notions of jihad to fight communism (didn't that one bite back hard)
The list goes on. So force of good? Really? I can understand a country acting in what it thinks are its best interests. Sure. All countries do that. But don't pretend like what in your interests = good and anything that isn't = evil. The world isn't so black and white.
The only REAL good the US has done in the last century has been to open its borders to people from all over and allow them to pursue what was once known as the American Dream.
That dream is dead. Killed by US government policy.
Case in point, I saw a commercial for gay marriage on Fox News recently.

Your right we never help anyone.
So ending a War where there was no end is sight was bad. If we were out for pure destruction of Japan we would have chose different targets(Tokyo ?)
Innocents in Vietnam, guess you ate that media coverage up.
So you saying we should let the Palestinians kill all the Jews (who are also in their promised land). The Muslim world would try to wipe them off the map if given the chance.
Going to Iraq on fabricated grounds, well that partially true. People are so quick to forget that Saddam REFUSED to allow inspectors access to all facilities so if you think someone has something and they refuse access to facilities, its not far fetched to believe they are hiding something is it?
Innocents who are are allowing terrorists to hide amongst them. If your allowing them to hide among you , you also willing to put yourself in the cross hairs.
Yeah we were so bad for trying to help Afghanistan while being invaded by the USSR. Guess we should have let them wipe them off the map. You really think they expected him to turn against those who helped him.
Odd you say its not black or white yet you have a black or white list.
As far as not doing any good is laughable. We never provide aid to anyone. We never help anyone. We spend more money in aid to other countries then probably any other country in the world.

Indeed we do, and it's not even close. We spend more money in foreign aid than we do on our own impoverished here at home, which is bull****... especially since most people will hate is by default regardless.
The WW2 argument cracks me up. That never would have ended (with an Allied victory anyway) had the U.S. not entered. We ended the war in Europe within 2 years, sacrificing more U.S. soldiers in that time than all other allied countries combined during the entire duration of the conflict.
And while Hiroshima and Nagasaki were indeed horrific, the fact of the matter is that also ended the war once and for all and saved countless amounts of lives, including even Japanese despite the casualties and deaths caused by the bombs. To think otherwise means you know next to nothing about the Japanese army at the time and what was going on in that entire region of the world.
I'll always be proud of my grandfather, and The Greatest Generation, who did nothing short of helping save the world.
Just that small thing.
Is the U.S. perfect? Hell no. Have we been impervious to mistakes, blunders and misdeeds? No. But an overall force of good in the world for over a century now? You're ******* right.
How long have you lived in Ireland?
Indeed we do, and it's not even close. We spend more money in foreign aid than we do on our own impoverished here at home, which is bull****... especially since most people will hate us by default regardless (obviously).

Besides.... we kicked Britain's *** twice
As a loyal viewer were you shocked or did you book a church?

You're welcome.
It occured to me how much progress can be made, in so little time, without a single car bomb. Then again, our social activists have always been smarter and more successful than yours.
Russians sacrificed 27 million dont hear them bragging about saving the world
