^ Seriously.

How many times do you get a 24 hour long news story about someone doing something great for another human being that doesn't involve tragedy?

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to all you in or near Boston or that are effected by this terrible tragedy.

I will never understand why people do **** like this... There is no financial gain, nor victory in such mindless killing.

If I had to guess, this seems like the work of amateurs because the blasts were not too large and the explosions/blast radios shot out to the side and went upward which suggest that the perpetrator didn't position the bomb properly or did not have access to more sophisticated explosive techniques. Moreover, the perpetrator(s) didn't detonate the bombs at the time when it would have caused the most devastation. This suggests that the bombing was not properly coordinated or that the killer may have had second thoughts before detonating.

Thank god the bomb was detonated hours after the majority of runners had crossed the finish line. It was estimated that only 5000 runners were left on the track when it was detonated. My guess is that the perp experienced some emotional conflict before setting the bomb off or was targeting a certain group of people who he thought would be in that area near the end of the race.

Ultimately, the most likely explanation is that the people responsible are an amateur domestic cell or single individual that didn't have access to sophisticated explosives, second guessed his actions and then when he finally got the courage to carry out this sick act, set off the bombs.

Let's hope we catch whoever is responsible soon and that people in Boston can rest assured that they are safe from anymore attacks.

While that is nice and all I'd rather we be looking at a far less extreme scenario in which to bring it out in people. Whether we should or shouldn't focus on the evil aspect, it is undeniably there - kinda hard not to think about it.

Missing my point. The argument came from people making comments like, "Human beings are evil and awful." Comments like that are a generalizing that all humans are like that. I even spoke to a person to make sure that's not what they meant. Their response, yup pretty much all humans are awful. So this was the intent of my Facebook post. Not trying to mute or ignore what took place. The evil was clearly there, but when people only see the evil and the chaos and believe that we as a human race (as a whole) are generally evil/awful creatures, it has me thinking in what scope do these individuals see out of? A little crack through a wall, or a gigantic sink hole. That was my point.

I don't care even about the police, fire fighters, or the paramedics. There are those who aren't trained and expected to do this, but decided that they should help out their fellow man, even if it meant risking their own safety. I think that there is nothing wrong in choosing to see the good in this as well. In fact, I KNOW! Having said that, I am very upset for everyone in this. I can't imagine how a person could stoop to such a low.

In the end, I just didn't want to ignore the good in humanity. Just give people a different perspective. I don't see the harm in showing that we're not all ****ed up like the individual(s) who caused this chaos in the first place.

I will say this I am moving on from that.. Hopefully people understood my intent of my comments now.

As for the people who are injured, I really hope that their quality of life will still be there. It maybe hard and challenging, and it's probably easier to be a person who's not in their position, but I hope they can still live out their lives to an enjoyable extent.

Not trying to be crude here...but is that...just her head? Or is she really small? Either way, yes, that's tragic. *******. :(

No you can see the EMS worker doing something but I'd say there wasn't much that could be done.

Ems, should have tagged her and moved on then..Horrible to say, but as a medic you have to triage..It really is ****ty when you have to make a decision like that in the field, I have been there before..

news outlets' #1 priority is generating ratings/viewers/readers. Above and beyond reporting accurate news.

People rubberneck to tragedy and bad news. Therefore thats what you see reported the most. The more traffic they generate the more money they make for their ad-space / commercials.
I've noticed lately that FoxNews is typically faster to report breaking news than CNN. But Ive also notice FoxNews more frequently reports incorrect and unverified information. Today they initially reported 23 people with severed limbs, but it was quickly changed to 10. Obviously they're more concerned about being first than being right. Thats why so much wrong information is reported initially and corrected later in media outlets. They'd rather be fast/wrong but get the most traffic than be a slower/right.

Ultimately the viewers control what the news concentrates on. You dont want the negative reported so heavily? then don't tune in and add to their ratings when they report it... :monkey1
