Can anyone confirm if this is an April fools joke or not? It does seem to be taking the Mickey when you read the announcement so I'm guessing it is a joke.

I have always been in 100% support of background characters being represented in the SS 12" line. As for accessories, are they trying to turn it into the Barbie SW line or something. Then again it seems like the holo chess table should fall into this line and I’m guilty of ordering that.

I doubt very much I would buy the giant chicken. A Tibanna gas miner could look cool though.

It's obviously an April Fool's joke in response to all of the complaining about SSC's character choices.

I could actually see Ice Cream Maker Guy as a con exclusive figure or something. That would be something! Sideshow making a figure of someone before Hasbro did!

I'm sure the plans were to announce this line. If they got good praise and lots of positive comments they would see $$$ and go ahead with the line. If there was too much negativity well drop it and say it was all an April fools joke!

I think I would rather have the chicken guy than the rebel troopers. :D

It seems like a pretty obvious April Fools joke to me. A better one would have been if they had announced a new LOTR PF. No one would have known if that was real or not!

A more obvious joke would have been to announce an armoured character up for PPO next week!!!
ALthough I'm sure that those particular characters are an April fools gag, I wouldnt put it past Sideshow actually implement this line. If they did I would definately skip every sinlge release, as the only background characters I would be interested in would be the Odd JAbba's palace or cantina character and they would be in scum and Villany.

If they ever do an Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen, I think they'd need this new line, though the title is very lackluster, but saying they're heroes of the rebellion because they raised Luke would be a stretch, they're bigger than Tion Medon, but they're similar in that they were characters that just were.

Are you frakkin with me? Dude, they took Luke in knowing full well who he was and who is father was. They were given a mission by the leaders of the rebellion and they carried that mission out and paid with their lives.

TO UNCLE OWEN AND AUNT BERU: HEROES OF THE REPUBLIC!!!!

I agree. Just because you aren't toting a gun or swinging a lightsaber doesn't make someone who risks everything for a cause or ideal any less of a hero. It took just as much. or maybe even, guts to be Oskar Schindler of Miep Gies than it did to be George S. Patton.

Well it would sum up Sideshow if it were an April Fools joke. Call me old fashion but this email went out on 29/30th March depending where you are, and an April Fools joke normally happens in April?

THe giveaway is in the name. APRIL fools day.

But then the Endor Soliders are shipping anytime now, so I suspect that the true April Fools joke will be relieved on Sunday when Sideshow tell us that the Endor staff are not actually real figures, and were just a wind up!

What a kick in the teeth for Sideshow if this is a real line! But as I've said before this line is in trouble, so the chances of this new collection being real are ZERO!!

The two things that told me this was a joke was the lame name & the crappy graphic that went with it....

I do agree that another line to handle third-tier characters like Mendon, Jettster, the Lars, street denizens, opera attendees, senate members, etc (anything that falls out of the already named catagories) isn't a bad idea...however, there's enough inspiration left in the current lines to keep things going for quite awhile....

(oh, and the Lars? Most definately heroes!)

:)

Wow, if this "new" :D line is a hit and once all characters are exhausted, I can just the next line....."STAR WARS SUPPORTERS AND MOVIE GOERS"!

...as far as the 1/6 lines go, I consider Heroes of the Rebellion to be made up of people that were directly a part of the Rebel Alliance as an organization, not the rebellion as a cause.

Um, thats what the Militaries of Star Wars line is for, yes? Basically what you are saying is they were heroes just not members of the Rebellion. Perhaps a bit of definition is in order. The people you consider to be part of the HotR line are actually a part of the MoSW line. Click the links and read the line descriptions.

I am afraid the nail pounded in tight on this one MaulFan. You have been OWNED! :lol

I say it again:

UNCLE OWEN AND AUNT BERU: HEROES OF THE REPUBLIC :clap :clap

If Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru don't go in the HotR line, then Jar Jar mustn't either. Which means he will be in the military line as sold as General Jar Jar, Gungan hero from the Battle of Naboo.

I could see the line itself being, as Dave stated the cantina band and some others could go in there. But the cantina band can also fit in scum and villainy so I don't know that it would really be a necessary line so long as we don't make sideshow fit everything within narrow definitions the lines.

As for this being a joke...C'mon the first release is a giant chicken who you only see a silhouette of its legs. When I saw the picture I didn't even know what the heck I was looking at, completely ignored the two black lines, and that's the character they are making? They could at least do the Cantina band, it would be more accepted than the chicken. Which looks more like an Ostrich to me by the way.

Now historically speaking Obi one with the force was a precursor to the Obi-Wan PF announcement. Half a Darth was a precursor to Maul. Any ideas what this si a precursor to?

Whats the opposite of "precursor"? A postcursor?

Maybe they are just poking fun at all the people who were pissed off about the Chess Table? :lol

I'm telling you there is ZERO chance of this line being in trouble in anyway shape or form. None, Zip, Zilch, Nada, Ninguno, Personne, Niemand, Ninguém.

Anywys this would make for some interesting looking aliens and such like JB said above. Honestly, when I first read it I didn't even think about this weekend being April Fools. :lol

The shipment of the Endor extras, Bubo, and the chess table. I do think they are having a little fun at the expense of those who have been critical of the choices revealed in the last few announcements. What makes this funny is the fact that it's somewhat plausible based on some of the obscure characters that have gone up for preorder in the last few months.

:monkey2 I was hoping I would get my Cantina Band while I still have a job and can afford it.

Yeah, they could reuse all the costumes but put them on fat short bodies and soak them is sweat. They could call it the "In Line At Celebration" collection :)
