My hate towards this film is for various reasons.
The one reason, I truly, TRULY, want FF to go to Marvel, is because I would seriously have loved to see FF in the comic Civil War, along with other things like Skrull Invasion, World War Hulk, and so many others.
I might be bias but Marvel doesn't crank out a home run every time, but out of convenience, it would be best if Marvel got rights back to everything. It's not like Fox/Sony would go and try to buy IM, Cap, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Daredevil and so forth. Like I said, I enjoy plenty of stories and for that reason I think it would be fantastic to see them on live action. I know the "books are always better", but I just love to see these fictional characters on the big screen.
As for this film; casting doesn't make sense to me. As for CBM, the cast almost never goes hand in hand until they are released on the big screen. Would people have thought Jackman a good choice for Wolverine, hell no. But he has done a killer job and so it fits. I think Downey is actually a pompous ******* at times, yet charming; so I feel he really is Stark. I can see Evans with the looks as Rogers, but I wouldn't go to say he was 100% spot on. So while I'm hesitant to completely **** on it; but Teller? Okay I get "Whiplash" is cranking out some buzz, but I would like to counter that with "Project X" and "That Awkward Moment"; not to mention that the latter also had his colleague Michael B Jordan.
I find Mara incredibly sexy, and she is enjoyable on "House of Cards"; but I don't see her as Sue either. And don't get me started on Jamie Bell as Ben.
Also I get they are going for Ultimate, but the Ultimate line isn't something a lot of people know of or enjoy, as it is pretty much New 52. When I got out of "Amazing Spider-Man (2012)", I heard a group of people saying why they went with that blonde instead of the sexy red head as his wife...exactly. So much wrong in that.
I still hold judgement and will reserve it, but I got some serious doubts about this. Just because Fox pumped out something hot, doesn't make it a streak. Let's look at Marvel, "The Avengers", a box office success, then we got hit with "Iron Man 3"; true still high grossing, but not exactly amazing (Mandarin anyone?). Then "Thor: The Dark World", still kind of eh, honestly success is based from cast of Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Eccelston, and on. Then finally we got "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and wow. Just wow. Took about a year and half (at least for me) for Marvel to get going again. So yeah Fox came out with "First Class" and rocked it, then "The Wolverine" and still rocking it (I think because of Jackman really), and then we got hit with "Days of Future Past" amazing. So can FF be stellar? Sure, but it can definitely lose the flame as well. Just my view, really.
