I've grown tired of this whole 'this movie franchise has to be connected to another' rubbish that has been going on in Hollywood recently

Just make movies. There no need to have them all connect and reference and tease each other

They all want to copy Marvel. However, Marvel had a plan and a vision from the very beginning, but all these other studios, they're improvising and trying to "connect" their movies with chewing gum, without a plan.

Can't argue that at all, Marvel has done a great job creating a shared universe even though most of the movies in their universe feel watered down because of it.

To be fair, most CBM are watered down from the original material unless the source isn't that old, long or complex, otherwise it's gonna be more superficial.

CBM are the equivalent to the length of a story you can fit in a couple of issues or a trade.

Well I mean watered down in terms of ambition and originality. Everyone knows the Marvel movies stick to a formula, and I think that formula is starting to become a bit stale, and some of the Marvel movies feel like they're made just so they can introduce a character so they can get him/her into an Avengers movie.

Look at a movie like Captain America: The First Avenger, it's a mediocre movie because Marvel rushed through some of the most important events in Cap's life just so they can throw him into the Avengers. Some directors in the MCU I do think try to make great movies but most of the time I get the feeling that most of these movies are nothing more that an introduction to a new Avenger.

I'm no fan of MOS but that's a movie I felt that the studio and director really tried to make great, they really tried to bring depth to Superman, maybe they did too much but I certainly respect them for that even though I didn't like the outcome.

Where to? How can I earn your forgiveness?
You are banished to the anime boards, where you shall deal with the lurkers

You must survive a year in exile there!

This, really this. From the look of it, the phases seem to have only one-two stand out, solid movies (Iron Man and maybe Hulk, really only compared to the original film, in Phase 1, The Winter Soldier and GoTG in Phase 2). It's pretty noticeable at times, again, because of the Thor films, and another film, Iron Man 3 for Phase 2, which showed the problems with trying to connect too hard to the other movies, and TFA, which as pturtle said, skipped a lot of important details and REALLY did feel like they were trying to shoe horn Cap into the Avengers. At least Thor was blunt about trying to get the title character into The Avengers.
