Twitter Reactions From Early FANTASTIC FOUR Screening; MAJOR SPOILER Revealed

Oh an Spoiler:

apparently they get their classic uniforms at the end and Doctor Doom as 2 costumes the second one more like the classic according to the reports

I'm a bit skeptical because they aren't letting reviewers post and only the folks who got in for free which was similar to the Green Lantern fiasco but hey you never know. Maybe it will surprise.

This is Nova waiting

Negative. The FF were responsible for some of the best comics/stories in the history of Marvel.

Ah, how kids today think everything started around 1995 . . .

I think the biggest problem are the characters, which is why they haven't been able to make a good film. Mr Fantastic and Storm aren't that interesting.

The FF are the metaphorical superhero family. Reed's the adaptable Dad, Sue is the protective Mom, Johnny's the hothead adolescent, and Benjy Grimm is the big baby in a blue diaper who throws the tantrums. That's always been the key that turns the book's engine.

They're NOT "American Pie In Space" (Hats off to whomever coined that phrase earlier :lol)

Doom should be a great villain

Doom should be the greatest of villains. For a comic book baddie, he's got Shakespearean levels of character.
To date, his portrayal in film has been Batsuit-with-nipples levels of fail.

Wait so everything didn't start after 1995? I can't fathom a world without my existence.

I hated when Fox casted too old for Hank Pym and too female for the Ancient One and too Grey for Crimson Dynamo ect... they just prove they don't know the propert--- oh wait that was Marvel, never mind.
But that was Marvel's choice. It paid off, because they know their characters and probably didn't want a comparison to Stark (smart non-powered guy and or rich building a suit). Marvel knows how their characters should interact, but also realize a direct translation from comic to film will not give it a cinematic feel. Don't think Fox has the track record Marvel does.

Fantastic Four needs altering to fit the screen. It's a dated comic. Marvel have struggled to make Fantastic Four relevant in the modern world.

People like to think that because they started it all at Marvel that they're awesome and an A-list property but there hasn't been a notably popular Fantastic Four story arc in decades.
So changing race of a character, making them all young, having the Thing with no pants and Doom being some programmer makes it relevant to the modern world? More like dumb alterations to me.

I've been working very hard trying to lower my expectations...but that got me a little excited. Dammit.

I used to watch those cartoons, but I thought the 90's X Men and BTAS were better. Now you're right about the directors they have chosen, so I'll give you that, but to be fair, Burton only had two comedy movies before making Batman, and he wasn't a comic fan either. The new F4 film was directed by a guy who made a modern...maybe even unique super hero film. I didn't like it, but a lot of critics and fans did, so he wasn't really a bad choice. I think the biggest problem are the characters, which is why they haven't been able to make a good film. Mr Fantastic and Storm aren't that interesting. Maybe that's why I've always liked the Thing, he was the only cool looking, interesting character. Doom should be a great villain, yt he always comes of as generic with those stupid electrical powers that has nothing to do with the real Dr Doom.
Well again, whatever the expectations, Burton delivered for most comic fans. Whether or not he followed the comics, he understood a lot of what was at the core of Batman, and he was a good filmmaker at the time who made a good movie. We haven't seen that mix yet with the FF. And of course the older FF cartoons weren't as good as the ones from the '90s. No comic cartoon was trying to be particularly sophisticated until the '90s. But they succeeded in their way as the old Batman show and Super Friends cartoons did. I have very fond memories of the episode with the Impossible Man. The main issue I've had with this new FF incarnation from early on was tone. They just shouldn't be "dark and gritty." And maybe it won't be that, but by all indications that's what they are going for. It's like saying a Punisher film should be funny and optimistic.

I wouldn't know about what has been a popular or unpopular story arc recently, but it's no more or less dated than anything else that came out of the '60s. It's a story about a family with super powers, as Gully said, and it should have an element of wonder and humor. Ben was lovable and funny. Reed was always doing something exciting and unbelievable. Johnny was hot-tempered and fun-loving. Is that kind of thing really dated, just because they aren't grim anti-heroes like Snyder's Man of Steel? You don't have to have the pipe smoking misogynist version of Reed to make it faithful to the core of the team. The Incredibles was essentially the Fantastic Four by another name, and Bird wasn't trying very hard to disguise that fact. If writers aren't able to make that work, then that's an indictment of the writers.

Well they did the wonder and humour last time. People didn't like it.

I would've preferred a 60s set period piece like FC and X-Men Days of Future Past to be honest but it didn't hapoen that way

No offence but this basically just reads like "I'll accept changes Marvel makes and vilify others who do the same thing"

Fox indeed don't have the track record of Marvel but they've had a solid track record for the last six years with their marvel movies. That should count for something.

So changing race of a character, making them all young, having the Thing with no pants and Doom being some programmer makes it relevant to the modern world? More like dumb alterations to me.

Half of those aren't alterations. They are young and Doom was a programmer in the F4 comic this is based on.

That's because all Marvel Studios has is Marvel. This is all they've got. Fox has tons of properties all over the place and they don't show the care with F4 like they should. IMO, it took Fox four X-Men movies to get it right. First Class is the best of all of them and that's because Singer wasn't the director and didn't have total control.

They are young and Doom was a programmer in the F4 comic this is based on.

That the Ultimate F4? No wonder why I didn't read those. Hope they don't include the goat-hooved legs. Its hard to imagine Doom as just some programmer. He should be much more well rounded and not turned into some metal skinned freak with powers.
