Anyways, I just got back from this cinematic version of a hooker on an abortion table.

I will say this, Tim Story's F4 movies are masterpieces compared to this.

They might've **** on the source material and had a not so great Reed, Sue and Doom plus a human size Thing but at least there was an element of a fun and energetic family dynamic with some pretty decent action, a comic book come to life.

This movie was made by someone who had no business trying to emulate a great like Cronenberg in writing, directing and character study.

You could tell it was made by someone who thought they were being a genius when in reality they were outputting grade school drama.

Directing/Writing is much more than just talking about a great idea and vision with cinematic history being thrown around trying to sound all smart, any ***** can talk big.

Filmmaking is about working with hundreds of people simultaneously from dozens of departments to bring that vision to life, empowering others with your confidence and gaining their respect and trust thru a collaborative process starting at the top all the way to the bottom.

The second the departments lose faith in their director they're immediately going to the producers to complain and the snow ball starts there.

Trank is a little kid driving a car on the LA freeway, **** is going to go bad quick!

The build up in this movie, the first "quality" hour, was even worse than what Tim Story gave us, because at least Tim Story was mature enough to follow thru all the way to the end with his build up.

Don't even get me started on the so called superhero action. It made no ****ing sense!

This movie is a 1/10.

Nah, **** that, 0/10.

I would stand in Times Square naked with a sign that said "Godzilla is Coming, We're All Doomed!" before I ever watch this movie again.

You're my boy Jye! You're my boy!

I was waiting for Sue to explain how she became orphaned. She mentions it to Reed, but then goes on to some talk about how he felt adopted too. It would of been nice to hear what happened to her, or where Johnny learned to build stuff, or even more about Doom, or what Ben has been doing with himself while Reed was away. After he escorts Reed to the Baxter building Ben is pretty much an after thought till he's brought in to go in the inter dimensional trip. Like, oh yeah, Ben Grimm is still a part of the story too. So much more details could have been fleshed out but weren't.

Yeah! THIS /\:clap

Even judging this version by Marvel "Ultimates" standards, it was still weak.

The character development was anemic at best.

And that's being kind. It actually was non-existent.

The initial conceit-- that a fifth-grader invents inter-dimensional transport with Legos, a Stretch Armstrong & a 120V power source is ABSURD.

But okay--we're in Spy Kids territory. I'll roll . . . these are supposed to be kid's stories, right?

WRONG! We want to seem edgy with some Cronenberg body horror!

It's not a Disney conspiracy. The Mouse is not hiding under your bed like a Commie Skrull waiting to body-snatch you.:cuckoo:

It's actually just a lame movie.
One that appropriated the names and powers from the Fantastic Four comics.
And it has nothing beyond the NAME to do with them.

Copyrights. Copy Right. Copy Left.

There's no politics needed.
It's just a silly superhero movie.
One that will be compared to Cutthroat Island, eventually.

Just give us a good Victor Von DOOM!

Heroes are only as good as their villains are bad.

The Greek playwrights figured this out 3,000 years ago . . . yet the Murdoch dungheap is still trying to catch up . . .

******s one & all!

I don't know, there were a lot of characters living in shades of gray in the stories of Homer and Virgil. But they did understand that you had to write about characters who were interesting, and that readers could empathize with on some level. Not sure if this happened in Fant4Stic for audiences, based on 95%+ of the reviews.

It sounds like you do know. And you understand.

King Kirby gave the world Dr. DOOM!

Why can't $120 million bring that concept to mere live action?

You know in the first Star Wars movie...that first scene...how Darth Vader just walks into the room and BOOM you know what he is. He's intimidating, he's the bad guy, he's scary, doesn't **** around, cuts right to the chase. We don't need his origin, that can come later. They need to do that with DOOM. DOOM inspired Vader...it's time to return the favor.

because studios think that would look cheesy on screen...............

I know crows. I know.

But the "studios" said the same thing about Darth Vader back in 1977.

edit:
(Whoops. Too slow for Biojex. That dude's some kinda samurai.)

So is this movie any good? Give me some honest reviews. :wave

It's one of the best comic book movies ever made. Actually, one of the best movies ever made - full stop. The reason it's getting slagged is that people are lying and just want to help out Disney. You know, because of what a huge underdog Disney is.

That would be funny. . .if it weren't an insult to Street Trash.

Take it back, JYE!

Seriously though, I'm still laughing about the comparison :lol

You and I need to have a Toxic Avenger/Street Trash weekend. :lol

The girl responsible for the effects in those movies was my make up instructor, shame my part from Toxic 3 was cut. :lol

I stopped feeling bad when the Michael guy said "fans are going to watch it no matter what"

So arrogant, f that guy. Every interview I see of him on this movie he comes off cocky as hell....

The guy from whiplash said bad reviews don't bother him because hero movies never get 80/90% good reviews

F everyone else in this:lol

Sorry to say but pretty much this.

I keep imagining a totally straight-faced Trank, in the build-up to this movie, telling an interviewer:

"Yeah, this is going to be totally unlike any other comic movie out there. I'm really taking a lesson from classic horror and sci-fi movies as my inspiration. You know, Street Trash, Ghoulies, CHUD, Troll 2, Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, sprinkle in the narrative flow, character development, and resolution of Maximum Overdrive. This is going to be something really special."

:lol

In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure Disney/Marvel is not happy about it either, because the film has a BIG Marvel logo in the beginning, and the general audience doesn't know or care if the film is part of the MCU...it's all the same to them, it's Marvel. So despite what people might think, Disney can't be too happy with this failure.

You might be right.

So is this movie any good? Give me some honest reviews. :wave
