I would be shocked if this were true. I can see maybe Trank bowing out as I seemed to remember he didn't really want to do the movie in the first place but starting from scratch? That's insane, it's close to impossible to put a movie together starting with script and have a shooting start date 6 months away, it'll never happen.

Might be: https://screencrush.com/fantastic-four-rumor/

Bleeding Cool ran a story claiming that not only was Fox dumping Josh Trank from Fantastic Four, they were getting rid of the script and the cast. That's a big deal, because Fox is staring down a deadline - if they don't get a Fantastic Four movie rolling, they lose the characters back to Marvel, just as they lost Daredevil.

Turns out it's not true. We reached out to source at Fox and got this:

Utterly false. We start April 21st.

Well, there you go. I'm disappointed so many sites ran this story without simply reaching out to the studio for confirmation. Sure, sometimes they lie, but this source is trusted and this denial is firm.

So what happened here? Was someone pantsing Bleeding Cool? Or is someone trying to cause trouble for Fantastic Four? A lot of fans who don't like the idea of a black Human Torch were probably hoping this was true, as were many who want Marvel Studios to get their First Family back.

I have a lot of faith in Trank and can't wait to see what he does.

Screencrush updated and said they got an official and he said it's "not all true" and Trank is still in the chair

Samuel L. Jackson can say, "I don't care, people are still gonna watch it" about The Avengers. Michael Bay can even say that about The Transformers.

The Fantastic Four? Not so much. The first made $154 million and the second $131 million. Making these films aren't the equivalent of printing money. They actually need to be somewhat decent. ******* actors better watch their mouths or bring RDJ levels of on-screen charisma to the table.

I find it insulting that someone assumes I should just hand over some of my favorite dollars to them. $11 for a ticket, another $10 for popcorn and soda and these guys think I should be happy that the hamburger, with pickles and onions comes out as a chicken club with tomatoes and I'm lucky to have it. Guess what, Hell will freeze over before I contribute to this mess. Let me know when someone does a faithful adaptation.

Yea they aren't getting my money if I see this it will be online .

Bleeding cool is still sticking with their story/source. Man, I hope they are right. I find it a bit interesting that the director deleted his twitter account too. Maybe some **** did indeed go down :lol

I dunno.....
Despite having announced the main four cast members, and despite releasing a shortlist of actors for Dr. Doom, Bleeding Cool has just reported that according to their well-placed sources, Twentieth Century Fox has dumped Fantastic Four director Josh Trank and the script by Simon Kinberg and are actively looking for replacements for the cast. All a mere six months before they are due to shoot, for 2015 release. Fox has issued a firm denial to Slashfilm, as well as Badass Digest, but…this wouldn’t be the first time a studio lied to save face, let’s be honest....

It would be great if FOX letting this one go turned out to be true. I could certainly see FOX studio execs only using the announcements as bargaining chips to try to get a sweeter deal out of Marvel, and maybe just test the waters to see if there was some kind of groundswell of support for the direction. Thus far it seems to be met with a cross between ho-hum, WTF, and wait and see. I don't think anyone has been jumping up and down saying this is the FF they've been waiting for. That said, I won't be surprised to see them plow ahead and do exactly what they are saying. Who knows. I've been hoping for X-Men to get to Marvel for more than a decade. Ain't gonna happen. But FF isn't X-Men. Hard to believe that at one point Thing was probably more popular than Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Iron Man and Wolverine wasn't even an idea in back of some writer's mind. Regardless of who owns the rights, FF is not exactly money in the bank. I don't even know if the comic is that popular these days. Even if the franchise were to revert back after more FOX foot dragging and deal making, it would probably take another 4-5 years for Marvel to figure it out because their slate is full with phase 2 and they seem to be close to announcing the phase 3 slate. Plus everybody knows that to pull this off right, the story has to be pitch perfect, the casting has to be spot on, the director has to have the right vision, the studio has to cough up the budget, and Thing needs to be CGI. I'm not sure if they have checked any of those boxes, but it's in their court to prove everyone wrong.

Nah, FOX will hang onto FF just to keep Galactus and Surfer out of Marvel's hands. Marvel basically offered to let them hang onto Dare Devil if they allowed Marvel to use the big G and SS, and FOX refused, letting DD's rights revert back. That would seem pointless now, if their intent with this is to bait Marvel into buying back FF.

Fox has nothing new to offer let it go back to marvel and have it sit on the shelf rather have that then the fantastic four babies.

Somebody at Fox needs to sit down the board of directors and major shareholders and have them watch the Corman produced FF. THAT is what happens when you try and crap something out to hang onto the rights. As Brady Hawkes would say, "know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run..." If they half@$$ it they MAY get a decent return on thier money once, but they wont be building a franchise.

:goodpost:
And even if they had RDJ charisma, why not have RDJ class? His message to his detractors was that IM was fun and he hopes he did a service to the character for the fans.

It's interesting in Bleeding Cool's update that they seem to imply that their source is a director that was approached to take over (or someone close to such a director) which means that it definitely would behoove Fox to deny everything if they hadn't actually told Trank. I'd actually feel really bad for Trank if it got yanked for him, but only for a few seconds because so far his decisions have been atrocious. I mean, at first glance.

I'd love for nothing than them to start over, but it doesn't mean round 2 would be any better.

That's a bit misleading though. That film was never released, and was shot and canned for the sole purpose of maintaining the rights. :lol

That's exactly why I don't feel anything but relief if this is the truth. The man should never touch another comic property again, with how callously he *******izes the source material and race-baits for tabloid publicity. It's shameless.
