looks like theyre going more for the original movie feel, or at least it feels that way to me.

Billy Bob made the first series, he was such a nut case.....I just shook my head every scene he was in pretty much.....:lol

Is it a whole new story every season?

Mostly. There was a point last season where the cop asked her father whether he'd ever seen anything like this before. He said something like "not in a long time". I think this season is that story, centered around Keith Carradine's character when he was younger and a cop.

I only watched a few episodes of last season, that's why I asked. I was wondering if it was important for me to watch season one to understand the new one.

What's your take on the UFO connection? The younger Gerhardt got hit by a car during a UFO sighting ... and this episode closed with a War of the Worlds voiceover. Saw an interesting article that connected it to The Man Who Wasn't There (Coen Bros. movie with Billy Bob Thornton).

The truth is out there: The UFOs and aliens on FX's Fargo, explained

Haven't seen that, though I'll keep my eye out. But, his theory was that the alien connection and the mentioning of the unflinching judgment of God in 2.01 (Judge citing the Book of Job) are both hinting at a higher power/ 'cosmic' objective morality that is watching and judging.

Finally saw the 12/7 episode last night.

I had watched the 11/30 episode last Sunday, and was going to post some thoughts, but decided to wait in case there were spoilers in the thread.

I was going to stay that even though he's a cold-blooded killer, I felt that Hanzee was a pretty sympathetic villain...think of all the crap he's had to deal with through the years, from all the racism to being thought of as expendable in "Nam and forced to be a tunnel rat...him killing Floyd Gerhardt didn't really bother (Has it been explained why she has a man's name, :lol?) as she decided to get involved with the family's criminal empire, but finding out that he had strangled Peggy's coworker Constance was damn cold blooded.

The Sioux Falls incident that Lou Solverson referenced in season one did not disappoint. A blood bath, indeed.

Man, really tough to know that Lou loses both his father-in-law and his wife, and Molly loses her grandfather and mother...although it hasn't been confirmed, it's pretty much leading to that outcome...although it would be cool if we found out that the mother (can't remember her name, Betty?) beats the cancer and Molly has a few more years with her before she passes of other reasons.

As for your spoiler...since it's been a few days since the episode aired, I think we can talk about it openly. I was okay with it, especially since it made a appearance in episode 1, but my wife was like "WTF?" so I understand your reaction. Not sure if the whole UFO thing was necessary.

For my money, I've enjoyed this season more than season 1, which was awesome in it's own right.

Oh, and Bokeem Woodbine has been fantastic as Mike Milligan. Everything else I've ever seen him in within the last 15-20 years has typecast him as the typical hood/gang banger type. Glad to see him in a role that allowed him more range.

It's nice that Fargo takes place in different years/decades. I would like to see early 1900 or late 1800's for a future season. Just for the heck of it, you know...:wink1:
