Whats next from SS, an ES of 5 for the upcoming Gandalf vs Balrog Dio in Faux Platinum and you need to contact a Medium to find out when its getting put up for order because it will be completely random and will mean sitting for 72 hrs at the computer refreshing till your ++++ing finger falls off!!!

Maybe, and if so you better be ready this time! :D

Thanks for the tip off :D

:lol:lol

I do hear you on the matter man. I just know how SS works and they always have. You gotta keep on your toes.

Look at all the PPO's. Most are miday for Americans. Most are at work and not all have internet so they miss out. No system can make all collectors happy sadly.

Yep I did know that thanks but I normally only do that if I am not in work early the next day or if I know there's an announcement I have stayed up many times to sign in for the newsletter only to find either no announcements or just average news so I don't and really can't afford to be staying up every week at that hour. In fact I was surprised that there wasn't more buzz about it from the board as I usually follow what the vibes are on here but i couldn't find any announcements that it was going to be this week. I am already getting over it you know +++++* it I have to but I don't think the response from some people on here was very good, I know if I had got one I would have felt bad for the guys who missed out not call them whingers and cry babies etc etc, but thats just me............

Well, I agree that we shouldn't resort to name calling and insults, and yes, it always hurts when it is something we want that we miss. I will also agree that there should have been an announcement in the newsletter that a pre-order was coming; Sideshow has been good enough to do that on just about everything rare since the Grey Hulk VS Spider-man issues. Yes, they did mention both this and the Dual of Fates Faux Bronze upcoming pre-orders in the Memorial Auctions of the prototypes of both pieces, but a lot of their newsletter readers may not have seen those auctions, so to me, it wasn't an "official" announcement. All I can add is, there is a very good chance these are not going to go up that much on eBay, based on the Yoda/Dooku dio, so just wait until they ship and then shop wisely.

I have missed pieces more than once and not just SS. Instead of crying I hit eBay if I want it bad enough. If I miss out it's my fault for not staying on top of it.

Thats it.I did this more than once...you win some you loose some...If you miss, you go on ebay. You pay the $$$...A collector who has a passion aint cheap.

:lol Gimme a break! If you sell one of your SS collectibles for more than you paid for it you're a flipper. You can use any kind of rationale you want but when you sell a $125 statue for $500 [whatever the reason or time frame] guess what...you just flipped it. Unless of course someone put a gun to your head and forced you to sell it for more than you paid for it. :D

I don't understand you at all. You mean you DON'T see any difference between:

A) buying a piece you like and keep it for a while, until you decide to sell it because something even nicer has come along

AND

B) buying a piece you never intended to keep for yourself but you just buy it to sell it on immediately with a BIG profit

??

There is a HUGE difference between those two and if you can't see that, I don't know what I can do to make it clearer.

I am confused as well. What is the big problem with people making some money? After all we all need it right? I can't buy tickets to my favorite football team because people scalp them to make a profit. It sucks but this is how some people make a living. Other's support their collecting habits this way. The truth is you disagree because this is probably a piece you want. You know you will have to now pay top dollar because of it's rare sold out status. I am guessing that's why you are pissed. Don't blame the flipper.

No I'm not saying it's a big problem, I'm just trying to say that I'd rather see this piece end up for the "normal" price at someone who decides to keep it because he/she likes the piece, rather than someone who decides to sell it on with a big profit.

I myself have sold several items in my collection, some with profit, some without. All of those items tho, I have had in my posession for a while, enjoyed their beauty before deciding I had to sell them to make more room for new items.

So once again: I'm not against people selling things with a profit, all I'm saying is that I would have enjoyed seeing ALL these 50 pieces go to people who really want the piece, instead of it ending up at someone who only bought it to sell it on with a big profit and is not interested in the piece itself.

And yes, of course I'm pissed that I didn't get a chance to get one for myself, because I would have wanted to keep it. Now, instead of buying one directly from Sideshow, I'd have to buy one from the Bay for a HUGE amount of money.

I'll save you the trouble... Buy mine from me for a HUGE amount of money.

I was suprised how many freaks bought the Yoda & Dooku bronzes. It looks like most decided to keep them. I am sure the majority were sold to people that want them. I am also sure some people bought them to make a profit. It's life I guess. Like Shai said, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. That how the world works. :duff It does suck thought if you wanted one not being able to get one. :monkey2

Polylord I am right there with you,but please don't get me started again on this because that last bit hasn't even sunk in yet!!! :lol

A little bit off topic . . but how long did the bronze Yoda dio take to sell out ?

How and where you make a profit is irrelevant. If you buy a $125 statue and sell it two years later for $500 you've just made a $375 profit.

If you buy a $125 statue and sell it two minutes later for $500 How much money have you made?...exactly...$375 Who cares if it takes you two years or two minutes?...you are still making money! And you know what, that's what a democratic, free market system is all about.
