WALES just won the GRAND SLAM so could'nt give a toss about a little bronze statue.Let the party commence...!!:chew:chew:chew:chew

I didn't get one. I passed on it and I'm not bitter but I don't think this thing is gonna light the world on fire. Do I think it will only make that little profit? No, I know it will do more than that. Now, do I think it will make some kind of crazy profit? No, I don't think it will do that either. I'd say $150-$200 early on will be what you see. I dont think this thing is gonna be something that is "that" sought after.

Hey I thought I was on your ignore list :D.....I wasn't referring to guys like you who had a chance to get one of these and passed on it. I agree this piece may not take off for a while, or it may never take off , but down the road these are going to be very hard to find. I know I will be keeping mine as will many others so even if around 30 of these are flipped, then what? You have to believe that anyone buying secondary will be doing so for the long haul and at that point they will be extremely hard to find. I'm not saying they'll hit the $1000 mark or anything like that but certainly $600-$700 is a reasonable estimate. Of course, you never know what may happen once The Hobbit hits the big screen either...it certainly won't hurt the value of LOTR collectibles.

I do think SS is really going to have to re-think the issue of ES's however as so little are even holding there initial retail value these days. I think of the LSB balrog that can already be had [by SS retailer's] for as little as $310 shipped and for even less on Ebay. With the way things are going, the days of "sought after" pieces may just be a thing of the past :monkey2

Maybe that range if not may are on ebay at a time but as The Hobbit gets closer I could see that especially. As far as the ES of LOTR items I think its alright for where things are at because any lower and it might not be worth it for them to make them. As far as sought after pieces 4 me that's more due to how a piece looks and personal feelings than ES/$ on the secondary market.

I checked the last 3 sales of bronze yoda on ebay . .

They were $250, $300 & $350

Don't know what it means really . . just saying :)

Well the $250 ended on a Sunday morning which is why it was so low. They will probably stay in that $300-350 range for now until all the flips are gone. I doubt it will ever go for insane $ but it will always be at least in that $350 ragne. This Eagle one may get a little push with the Hobbit movie but I don't know if it will skyrocket either. But who the heck knows they could both end up at $1000 or $200.

The Yoda was also limited to 100. The Fellbeast is limited to 50, like the grey Hulk VS Spiderman.

Sure, but there are easily more than twice as many Star Wars collectors as there are LOTR collectors.

All I know is that with 50 of these made and a lot of collectors showing enough interest, this will become a grail. As long as we won't see all 50 of these on ebay, which I am pretty sure we won't, I have faith in this piece.

I don't know about grail status. A bronze version of something is a neat gimmick, and may command slightly more, but I'm not gonna kill myself over it. As some have said here, it really boils down to personal taste. Frankly I didn't give a hoot about the Grey Hulk variation. The hype on this bronzed version doesn't seem that high either, because the regular version does shine on its own merit.

Again, if I really was hung up on the bronze, there's nothing stopping me from doing it myself, as others have done in the past with other LOTR sculpts. So . . .50 may just be the right number to garner interest. I was just disappointed that SS did not feel to advertise its availability more loudly.

I agree the color version in all cases looks a lot better, the gimmick of bronze is just silly.

Grey Hulk exists, he's a real character. If it were a faux bronze hulk, that would be a gimmick and not fetch nearly as much as Grey.

actually, the guy pulled the auction early and sold it for less than his bin price

And how do you know this, hmm :D ;)

i'm not the buyer or seller, if that's what you're getting at. believe me, once i get my hands on one of these it isn't going anywhere for a looooooooooong time
