"James Bond seems a lot less cool once you learn: Brosnan, who could have been the best Bond ever, never matched his promising debut in three thoroughly mediocre subsequent outings."

I still say Tomorrow Never Dies is Brosnan's best. I'll never understand why that movie gets no love.

I think because the villian was weak. Don't get me wrong, he is a great actor and I love him in PotC, but a middle-aged guy with glasses that runs a newspaper isn't a very cool villian.

I agree with theobsoleteman. Tomorrow Never Dies is the best Brosnan. Jonathan Pryce was an intellectual villain and Michelle Yeoh was every bit Bond's equal. Plus it had David Arnold's best Bond score to date.

"Just brushing up on a little Danish." :rotfl

Its fun to see them all together...

Yeah, before seeing Casino Royale... From Russia With Love was my all time favorite... But Craig and the guys behind that film changed my mind by the time the credits rolled. Great film.

A Bond army :lol How cool would it be to have each Bond have a cameo in the next film? Well, maybe a behind of the scenes or bonus feature on the DVD. I personally would love to see Sean Connery as a Bond villian. It would kinda be cool (but not) to have Connery Kill Bond Off!

And with the whole Casino Royale thing going on on this page, I think it is only when, not if, we get a Craig Bond.

I always thought that! I know its kind of weird, and it would probably take you out of the movie too much, but Connery would actually make a good villain...

Of course, then I saw "The Avengers"...

I still think he could play a good villain though, not just for a Bond movie.

I was very disappointed with the selection of Craig as the new Bond. I thought he was the most unappealing actor for a series that had run its course. I had contempt prior to investigation, and went into Casino Royale with diminished expectations. I sure was WRONG. I think Casino Royale may be the closest adaptation of Ian Fleming's literary Bond. This was a work of art, and Daniel Craig surprised me. The team that made this film must have had a tranfusion. Well worth the price of admission. It was like watching an epic, or two films in one. The best action, adventure, suspense film I've seen in a while. I'm looking forward to some new screen adaptations. I'd like to see a John Garner authored book made into a movie with Craig, also.

It's too hard to pick a favorite, so I'll go with my top three:

Man with the Golden Gun
License to Kill
Casino Royale

BTW -- for those who can't get enough of Bond, Spike TV is running Bond movies now through Sunday, I believe...for Thanksgiving. I certainly never get tired of watching Bond, the good or the bad, and always look forward to Bond marathons which come on TV quite often.

5)On Her Majesty's Secret Service

These are my Top Five favorites.

Always liked the one with the knife-edged throwing hat;
Also the Roger Moore skis over a car film.

Sorry, not as up on my Bond history/titles as some, although I have seen & enjoyed most. ;)

My take on Craig and Casino Royale: I was really upset to see Pierce go, as he was possibly my favorite Bond. I thought he was getting dreadful scripts lately though. The most recent started well with the prison camp, but enough with the Austin-Powers style Uber-Villians.

I LOVE the tone of the new film. Much grittier, more "real", more violent. It could have used some editing though IMO. I enjoyed the plays on some classic Bond gags: "Shaken not stirred", and "Mrs. Broadchest".

I'm not convinced Craig is the only one who could have pulled the film off, but he does certainly do so sucessfully, and any actor in the role is destined to be evaluated packaged with the material production tone they are given. All said, if the choice were Brosnan making films like the last couple Bonds, or Craig making films like the current, I'd take the new all the way.

They set up Craig/Bond as an orphan, but I'd have loved to see Connery play his dad.

CR has set the bar so high, that's it's difficult to rate the the others, but Goldfinger bored me silly. I like the more outre outings - Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Moonraker...

But still; From Russia with Love, OHMSS, both Daltons are more watchable for me.
