Re: Feel the wrath of . . . AKUMA! (Sculpt Update on PG 2)
Thanks guys!
Johnny, yeah, that was all I could think about when I was sculpting it! Had to keep it close to the head so it could be molded. I wanted to make it more wild though, but I think it's a good compromise.
Re: Feel the wrath of . . . AKUMA! (Sculpt Update on PG 2)
Finally finished my mold and casted Akuma's head and hair. I need to mod everything a little bit, but I figured I'd do a paint test to see how he looks with paint. Sometimes details are easy to miss when you have no color on the sculpt. Jen finished the outfit and we picked a fairly thick canvas for his outfit so it stands weathering and fraying. I traced his "heaven" logo in Photoshop and printed it on heat transfer decal. The logo sits a little low now, but I'll fix it and make it a little bigger and slightly up more on the outfit.
There seems to be a noticeable difference in the skincolor I normally paint with the ACI color skin. The body color seems to have a tint of brown in there so it looks like a pale-ish tan. I'll have to mix the resin tint to try and get a closer skin color. The eyes should be a little more bright also. I'm not sure if it's my camera or not, but the eyes look much brighter in person than in the photos. I also tried a new painting technique I picked up from my friend Tatianna from Deviantart. The skintone is casted in the resin and I painted and blushed the highlights over the resin instead of normally painting the skin colors on. I think the effect looks great, but it's quite tricky to get the skintone to match perfectly.
Yeah, I wish there were more juiced up looking bodies. I'm not wild about the ACI skintone either. It has this weird pale-ish tan tone to it that reminds me of cadavers.
Thanks guys! Still need to work on him a bit. This is my first try and painting with the tinted resin this way. There's definitely a learning curve to it so I'm trying a few different things out.
