WHOA!

The Fantastic Four is being "rebooted"?

WOW.

How many times does a franchise/license/property needs to be rebooted?

I believe Marvel's THE PUNISHER is on third reboot/retcon/remake.

They NEED to put Galactus and Namor in this..... I would keep the actors Except Alba ( yes i know) and dude who played Doom, he was terrible.

I hope somehow they crossover with the Avengers and get the Illuminati going, but that won't happen for a while :lol

I'm glad there's going to be a reboot of FF..I think Silver Surfer was the only think I liked from those movies

I'm getting really tired of that r-word being thrown around so much.

I was NEVER a FF fan growing up and was indifferent to the cartoon and comics. Back in 2005, I was put off by the bad reviews and dragged to see the film with my family. Guess what! I ended up really enjoying it and it got me interested in the comics. I still enjoy watching it when it's on, and find immensely fun and entertaining. It's not a dark, brooding masterpiece, and it was never meant to be. And honestly, what would you rather watch when nothing else is on and you want to have a good time: FF or something like Superman Returns (which I still like)?

From what I've read in the comics, the tone is pretty faithful to the source material, too. Some comics might just not be meant to be gigantic, smash-hit films. Look how many times The Punisher and Hulk were rebooted. All versions were unique and faithful to the comics in their own way, but only ended up making little more money than the previous versions.

The market is so over-saturated with genre films (not that I'm complaining) that I HIGHLY doubt a new FF film is gonna be a significant leap in quality over the previous two and make that much more at the BO, to boot. IMO, they should just take what worked from the first two and try their best to give it a good screenplay.

You enjoyed GG's space outfit?

Beats looking like an eccentric, gay, green-skinned elf at a Halloween party. While the GG costume in the movie did look a little to Power Rangersie, the comic book costume in a real world situation would look even more ridiculous, and make even less sense.

How about a whole Spider Man franchise reboot ?

I liked the first 2 a lot (especially the second one), but I could probably live without Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst is about the worst thing ever.

Also, the look of Green Goblin in the first film is for shaft.

Staying slightly off-topic, I think Ray Stevenson's Punisher should be in the next Spider Man!

On topic: I think Doom's origin can be played out within a reboot film. Say the film opens with Reed as a young college freshman, when he meets Sue as a teenager, and his roommate Ben. The accident that kicks Doom out of college occurs around this time, and you don't hear about it til Doom is revealed halfway through the movie. Once Doom is revealed as being behind some acts of terrorism to antagonize the FF, Doom does his monologueing to the FF and tells his story (via narrated flashback) about how he becomes who he is and how he blames Reed for all his misfortunes since getting kicked out of college.

Really, there is so much great material for the FF in the comics, the movie should have been an easy slam dunk. They have decades of brilliant stories. All they have to do is translate them to a script. Is is just arrogant writers/producers/directors that want to create their own "original" take on the franchise? I mean, what's so hard about just copying the comics!?!

The Thing really isn't that tall:

I agree; the Thing is not that big compared to the other members of the group. Artists take very big liberties these days with these great, classic characters.

True, but I didn't like that the Thing was actually shorter than Reed in the films. I think something like 8 feet (a foot shorter than the new movie Hulk) would be a good size for the character in order to make him awe-inspiring rather than just a guy in a suit.

Plus, if we ever see a Thing vs. Hulk fight (keep dreaming, I know ), it just wouldn't be cool seeing a 9-ft hulk going against a 6-ft Thing.
