I just like to deal with reality.

There is nothing more that I want than the US winning the WC.

I am Brasilian and had it come down to Brasil vs USA for the cup, USA all the way for me.

Why, because I am now an american living here.

USA played today like it was their first game ever., it was just so very painful to watch their performance out there.

Belgium didn't just play better, they nuked them off the field.

U.S had a good go. Hope it actually reached the news out there.
Oh it did. The response was insane I just hope that it actually keeps up and makes more actually interested not just a once every four years kind of thing. Here is just one stadium in the US or view the game, mind you this was during the middle of the day.

Good to see soccer :lol( god I feel weird saying that )rising in popularity over there, they need to match their domestic league seasons with the rest of the world and keep bringing up young talent.

Also, wouldn't hurt to keep bringing big names, I had a blast watching LA Galaxy with Beckham and Chicago Fire with Cuauhtemoc Blanco, and more recently Henry with the Red Bulls.

At our entertainment district we had 10k people show up to watch the game today and at least that every game the US played.

Won't happen. The majority of young phenom athletes here are going to play sports that bring them fame & monster contracts and soccer can't do either.

Like I said before, being an athlete won't automatically make you a footballer, at all, have you seen Chad Ochocinco's tryout videos? :lol He had the heart and certainly the athlete part (don't know much about american football though) but poor guy, he looked funny playing soccer. :lol

I mean young talent who are specifically dedicated to soccer.

Also, Soccer could very well give them fame and monster contracts, maybe not in the US though.

I agree. What I'm saying is that young athletes with phenom-type skill will not choose soccer in this country %99.99 of the time.

True. Over here it's Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey. Probably in that order too. Even Nascar is more popular here than soccer.

Oh that, yeah, that's probably true, from the outside it looks like soccer is more of a saturday/sunday morning activity where the parents drive their kids to the games no?

Hopefully seeing this and the looking at some of the top guys and there worldwide popularity might show them there is lots of money and fame to be had.

i don't think anyone was every saying our best current athletes just switch, I know I wasnt. I meant have some of our best young athletes who decided to play soccer vs football or basketball. Sure Chad was bad but considering he had not played since HS (around 20 years)that's not all the bad. There are no top level athletes who have that ability to just play another sport at a pro level that they haven't played in a long time. See Jordan in baseball. Even very few can play more that one that they played there whole life.

Today youth sports is a mostly about parents picking the sport that gives the kid the best chance to go pro or at least get a scholarship and really have little to no chance to try other sports. Soccer is much more popular with girls than boys and it shows on the world level.
