Or better yet how about I send you $100 and Les can just send me the head when ever he feels like finishing it :)

Man I feel like Corey Feldman in the Burbs now. I'm going to kick back on my front porch call some friends over, order some pizza and just watch what happens.

All I can say is I have the original FML CR Figure and it is a work of art. It is prolly the best CR sculpt ever made. It is SO good, I could prolly loan it to the Museum of Modern Art for display and they would drool over the chance.

Les has mentioned he is getting to the Reeves orders now, or very shortly and making NO More. That's it. No More!

I have waited a year for lots of stuff, but I would have waited even longer to get my hands on a FML Reeves Sculpt.

In short. Sack, you are Craaaazy, Dude! To pass on this, Craazy I tell ya, just chill and let Les finish it. Once you have it you will not regret it.

Oh, snap! :rotfl

I've been waiting on Sloth for almost a year, but that's fine b/c I know it's worth it. You can't rush perfection. Plus, when I get it--it's just just gonna sit on the shelf to be gawked at. It's not like I'm bleeding to death and waiting for the jaws of life.

i guess i'm the A-hole here in this love fest, but i think i've been very patient. but while i'm waiting over a year for you to paint a single head for me, you continue to churn out your personal custom pieces. is it just me or is that wrong?

how about you just send me $100, keep your superman head, and we'll call it even?

A little late, as I not only finished it, but have it packed for shipping (along with a lot of other works)

And thanks you other patient folks. I know I am slow and late on much, and have been delayed on many projects, and even sidetracked on some things that are for the purposes of keeping interest in my work, but I am trying to get EVERYTHING done. All of it. And will.

Shipping more soon, and another update coming. Thanks.

EDIT: Yes, Pjam, I have no plans on making any more of the Reeve custom figures after the current lot. That does not exempt possible heads, painted and unpainted. I had hoped to offer the head again, as well as a Clark Kent variant, with glasses for anyone that wanted one. I would even be happy to GIVE Mr. Cleveland, (Captain Sack) one for free for his wait. Hope that helps.

I know I am late on a lot of work, but I ALWAYS DELIVER! And will.

I do not offer refunds for that reason. My work is my bond. I will finish what I start if it's the last thing I do.
Always!

that made me crack up. it's been a long time since i've seen that movie but when i was younger that and goonies were the two movies that always seemed to be shown at sleepovers.

I understand his frustration. It has been a long time for his head, but this is something for a private message. This just creates bad blood between people and others jump in to attack one side or the other. Honestly, it's no ones business but Les and Captain Sack.

Agreed, the mature way to deal with things would be private communications between the parties involved, and I think it's a rude act towards Les to treat this business issue like an event for our entertainment, have some respect; Les is a class act that this board could use more like, he's not going to stoop to the "it's on like Donkey Kong" level like a lot of people do around here, he's more sophisticated and mature about things than to engage in that sort of childish behavior.

I've waited longer for preorders from collectible companies.

agreed, my comment was not meant to start anything or encourage anything i just was hit off guard by a quote from the burbs and it brought back memories.

Wasn't commenting at you at all, under different circumstances I'd have done the same, it's a classic movie, "Yo Rumsfield!"

I don't really think that you could understand what it takes to do what we do. Imagine a workload that never ends, a pile of heads that always continues to grow... And on top of that, sometimes your artistic drive goes bye bye and you have to do a personal project to create more artistic fuel to finish your commissions. Is it wrong to wait... especially if it means a more accurate paintjob for the customer?

I do know that it's hard to wait for a year for something you paid for, and see new stuff come out of our workshops, but at least try to put yourself in our shoes. We aren't machines, we have to rest.. and we are NOT creative 100% of the day...everyday. On top of that, real life can hit and do horrible things to your schedule. Les has been through a lot this past year, I think some slack needs to be thrown his way in that regard.

And next time, please send a Private Message and do not voice yourself in an artist's custom thread unless it's been weeks and they haven't gotten back to you.

Very good points Josh, and insights that I think many could benefit from learning about artists.

I'm not a painter like you and Les, but I've been making art for more than half my life now and there are those times when no matter how much you want to or need to create a piece, life just sucks the magic out of you, and it's frustrating as the artist because you know you were capable of doing it the day before and likely the day after but you tear yourself apart in the now like "why can't I do this???"

I think communication in the customs buy/trade world is huge. I think as a customs consumer, you have to figure up front that unless something is being pushed that way, the turnaround isn't going to be instantaneous. There's backlogs to deal with, materials acquisition, ability to give the project it's due dilligence.

In the case of an artist like Les, if you don't get the item you've paid for in the time frame you expect or you get the impression you're item is being misprioritized, it doesn't mean Les doesn't care. The man wants every piece he does for his customers to be sterling works that he's proud of and are to the complete satisfaction of the customer.

Having recently been given the privilege of shooting Les' work, and shooting some pieces I'd gotten from him on my own in the past, we've talked extensively about his painting quality and technique and care for the details, and I wish you guys could all have heard the committment and passion in his voice behind delivering the best he can for you.

If you feel that buying a custom piece/job means a timely manner from your purchase to receipt, that's ok, as a consumer it's your option to feel how you do about the process, but as someone who's closely conversed with some of these guys, I'll tell ya, it can really be in your best interest to let these customizers get to your piece when they can give it their best. Les did a job for me that I will always be very grateful for the quality he put into it, and I didn't care about the timing, but he tackled it when he was most able to pour himself into that particular job and it paid off like you wouldn't believe.

If any of us were really mature, we wouldn't be collecting these things in the first place. :rotfl
That not withstanding, any wait for Les' or Josh's work is always proved well worth it once received.
I've got heads with a different guy for over 4 years and still haven't seen 'em, but thats a whole different saga.

You guys are all too kind.
I agree, I hope matters like this can be handled between us in PM's and emails. I will always try to work with you all.

As for this item, since it was so openly mentioned, and I am and have been, finished with it, I dug it out of it's box and here it is, painted and ready.

Normally, this head is NOT set for a HT body mount. This was an exception.

I hope you want it still.

I for one am envious, as I do not have my own Superman custom anymore. Sold it over a year ago, and have not had time to get back to these, and so, have not made myself one since.
And, I still owe several full figures (to come soon) so please don't barage me with where's mine posts or emails as most are started but not this far along.
I was trying to get certain ones done as soon as I could, and actually surprise a few with their's some still will be I hope. :D

Anyway, this head is indeed still available, from me, as I am redoing the mold off the original head, as this one was, and will be offering it to whoever wants one, BUT AFTER I CATCH UP with all else I have going on! :lol
Hope that is understandable.

I will post more about it in the current Reeve thread, as there is interest in it at present.

Anyway, thanks again guys. I appreciate the support, but I do not begrudge anyone for their frustrations at waiting for my works. That is only human. I do begrudge it's open-ness out here in "Burb's"-land, as I am working my ass off to catch all this up, BUT, I cannot blame anyone for being anxious for something. In fact, in a way, I am flattered. It means my work matters. And for that, I can only feel honored.

Now, to get back to it, because I have a LOT more to catch up on, and a lot more folks to try to keep from 'Burbsing me further! :D

Til next, hopefully fruitful post...

Your's always,
Les

Oh, and for what it's worth, I got in my WONDERFUL Toysoldier Menswear Grey suit (that I got from Monkey Depot BTW ) for my DK Two-Face custom, and IT ROCKS!!!
Pics of that when I get to it again. After the next wave of USCMarines and Ripleys....and....SLOTH!

Oh, one more thing in the defense of my painting up Spencer's Two-Face head....
I was simply trying to help him sell them. I get NOTHING from that effort, but the knowing that I am supporting a fellow customizer sculptor. Hence the rush on it. Same with Sovereign, or Chris or whoever else's heads I may paintup to show out of turn. Often, there is some support aspect that is time based and not of my own choosing about it. And I am always honored to do so.
I really care about the other creators here, and if my work can help them move items, even if I don't get a single repaint commission out of it, I can sleep knowing I was a help to them and not a hindrance.
Hope that explains why I pushed the Two-Face.
Since it was brought up.

Hope you are selling some Spencer. I really love that sculpt!
Note it is my current avatar. :rock

And that Rose!! Holy crap!! I've seen a few custom heads of her, but none [sorry guys] really captured my liking. Seeing your paint up of her is astounding!! Rose must join my growing TARDIS crew.
Thanks to Les, Rose and the 10th Doc have taken their places with the rest of my TARDIS crew! Woo hoo! :banana:banana I took a quick pic to show them off. I could only find one decent hoodie for her in my entire apartment.

For folks trying to find a hoodie for their Rose figures: Rose's entire outfit is part of a Mattel Barbie mix n' match Fashion Fever set. The Barbie set also comes with a dress, a skirt, and one more top, plus some shoes. There are some cute blue/brown sneakers in the set that match Rose's current outfit. Those sneakers might fit if you put Rose's head on an Obitsu!

Also, the tracksuit bottoms Rose is wearing in this picture aren't long enough in the leg. It looks like she's wearing highwaters!! (Which is why I didn't take any full length shots.) The material is very stretchy, so you should be able to fix that problem by pulling the trousers lower down on Rose's hip (thus baring more belly). I included the tracksuit bottoms in this pic so folks would have a better idea of what the Mattel set looks like.

I'll probably make Rose a better outfit later - jeans to replace these tracksuit bottoms, maybe print up some Union Jack fabric to make her a t-shirt, etc.
