Yeah, isn't his computer less than a year old? Did it come with a restore disc or a restore partition on the hard drive?

It's very new... I would think he would have a restore disk. I'll call him and see if he does. That might be an easy fix. I know he wouldn't want to lose his info... but it's better than buying an entirely new comp.

And EvilFace... he might take you up on that. He's pretty desperate. :lol

It is fairly new.

The issue for Les is he may very well have contracted a really nasty virus or malware that he can't kick. I know he's tried several things and obviously is still having issues.

I work the IT department for my company and I've seen a few PCs catch the right kinda bug that you just can't kick it without dropping the hard drive all together. I'm not sure how he is for backup of his files though, so it may be a fight to recover some files before he goes the route of replacing the hard drive.

If it were a technical flaw Dell would cover it I'm sure, but being an infection from user activity, that falls outside of Dell's responsibilities unfortunately.

He should try what I had to do just yesterday (I had a bad trojan on my computer). Take out the hard drive and reinstall it as a slave on another computer with a virus scan like AVG. Run the scan on the slave drive and then reinstall it on the original computer.

I thought I was going to need to nuke my computer too but now its up and running better than it has in a long time.

when is les coming back? how do you get him to do a repaint? is there a list of steps to follow?

As I posted in the Jack Torrance thread:

As many have mentioned before me, Les has no computer at the moment and is only checking in when he can.

He also is having some seirious real life issues at present, so be patient. :)

There are no steps other than email and/or PM him and patiently wait.

True. I keep imagining what it is going to be like to open that package with a mini HL Joker head staring up at me in all its glory....

When I get Les' Joker head, my pathetic headless HT joker will become the pride of my figure collection in the time it takes to stick it on the post

I got mine yesterday. Josh painted it for me and I've got a HT joker coming. This will become one of the best pieces in my collection.

Mr. Les Walker, I have sent you 3 email. Hope you receive all of them.

Merry Christmas Sir

I wonder if Les has had any success lately getting his computer back up?

He called me last week, but we didn't get to talk long before he had to go.

Anyone heard anything from him recently? Josh? pjam?
