GameToys should be fine, they have already closed their orders for a bit and remain quite silent on the social front.

There are still improvements made to the Tifa's sculpt so we might see a newer update nearing the release. (probably in the year 3000)

Nope, Tifa battle outfit and accessories aren't cheap though, and will be sold as standalone product in future.

The bust maybe comes with a swim suit or something (it's free afterall, I don't think they will put high budget on the clothing)

Honestly, nothing much. I think the gist is to not sexualize the characters in figure/statue format and usually SE would close an eye to it. ACG's issue is because they are touting the extra bust as a early bird bonus and it's likely that you couldn't fit any clothes over it (her hands are hovering or pressing onto her the top breasts if you look at it closely), plus all the unnecessary feet details sooooooooooooo...

A lot of the statue's previously takedowns are heavily sexualized or just plain porn in statue format so there's already a precedence.

As it is, many or most Taobao shops have already taken down their listings to avoid any further scrutiny, though I guess you can still put in an order if you ask the individual shops, I think ACG has already gathered enough orders at this point to do a run.



You should see the chat a week ago, there were people lamenting that the bust is not included internationally. I'm lucky to get the early bird in because I have a feeling that SE might act on it and the rest of the orders are cancelled. Basically an all or nothing for me.

I think by now we should have already seen this coming, any nudity or sexualizing of the characters = SE strikes.

Interesting how square enix can only send strikes against the 3rd party companies if they're making extremely nude content. I'm assuming they can't do anything normally but they're using the nudity content thing as a way to try and shut them down, bit cheeky.

What I'm understanding from this then, is that the listings on taobao or any other site with the bust, they're the only ones getting shut down because they're nude but nothing is being done to the normal orders without the nude bust which is what most of us have pre-ordered from onesixthkit, giantoy, etc.

With China cracking down on porn this makes it easier for SE to have China comply. Sounds like China mostly turns a blind eye to third party unlicensed stuff otherwise even with companies sending strikes, but it's still getting risky even for Gametoys.

I think the more correct way of putting it is that SE will take down any licenses that are in hot demand, and usually sex sells so they become prominent targets for SE. It's not just nude Tifa that SE has an issue with, there's also Sephiroth assfucking Cloud and Cloud or Sephiroth full nude barring huge dongs statues running about. They are also turning their attention towards 3D print models because a lot of these statues originated from a 3D render.

For GT, Tifa had a very short pre-order run compared to other GT releases because SE is already aware of them and watching like a hawk, compare that to the recent pre-order Cloud's 1st Class Body where they opened up the orders for almost an entire month because you can't really say it's Final Fantasy, just fantasy inspired costume. But they have also since pulled all FF related stuff from their official store (CM Warehouse on Taobao). In short, most responsible figure shops have either taken down unlicensed FF listings or made it not easy enough to place a pre-order in China, and that's because they are easier targets compared to international sellers. I had to go through a convoluted process of getting ACG Tifa order in and reading around the Chinese social space it seems some people also have the same issue.

So long the figures have a direct resemblance of their license, SE would be there waiting to pounce, the only thing is when and how, which at this point, seems like advertising sex and nudity as a selling feature.

Let's be clear on one thing, I have and did help people to obtain things from Taobao where I can, run through the thread and look it up on the Arms Set. I almost even got burnt by the experience because of late payment. If I can share the Taobao shop link, I would have done so. The fact that I didn't share meant that I was not in the position to do so because of the shop's instructions/preference.

And also yes, Early Birds get first dips, in fact they will get the second headsculpt and bust first before the rest of the figure. Why was it arranged that way I wouldn't know in terms of the drop but that's how ACG is positing their first figure release.

And I'm right to ask you to calm down because they did open up a pre-order for the body later, given that it's not just international collectors that's demanding for it. I have also advised those who wanted to get the body through me on the scalpers' market to wait because it's not worth the price too. A few of us are sharing these information and trying our best to help the international collectors so that the situation doesn't devolve into a scalper's free for all. At the same time it's tricky to also outright say they will open up a pre-order because it's still early stages and if GT decides not to, how do we deal with it?

But hey, it's good to be on the moral high ground amirite?

Nah, taobao is easy to use. Plenty of tb forwarder agent for oversea customer. Maybe some just annoyed due to those extra step to secure the order. You done enough by sharing the information of sales details.
For those who really wanted the figure,they will find and proceed any method to get the figure.

Which mean other collector pay the same price but getting less. Intentionally creating the sales hunger feeling for the product.
Unlike gt, just order within the period, everyone get the same items.

You and me both, I dislike the first batch thingy too because it invited way too much attention to an already hyped figure. I don't know why they decide to do what they did but lets hope the final figure turns out well, otherwise it's just a one and done company like many others.

It has happened before for Final Fantasy related items on CM Warehouse, it would disappear for a bit then come back. There are still ready stocks of GT Death Note figures so it's not like the entire store is gone, it's just laying low for anything Final Fantasy.

They're incapable of producing great figures, so let the others do it!

Well, I received Sephiroth's Brings Arts earlier this week, and I've only just had time to unpack it.
And for the official stuff, it's really good! Expensive but good.
