re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

It's a very nice looking material... and the quality is there. But the cut is all wrong. Sideshow's is pretty spot-on in terms of cut, but a horrid material.

I'm pretty happy with the Hasbro one... it's sewn a bit funky (with very thick seams) and you need to remove the elastic. But once on the figure I think it works pretty well. At least better than the stock.

What we really need is someone willing to make a set of these... it's a very simple pattern and I think some muslin (like is used on the Tusken Raiders) would look great. Another option is to see if this clothing set works out; pretty cheap and the tunic looks good so far.

Is that the same one as Buttflossi's? How come his looks like a snuggy?

Bath robe Luke no bueno :nono

That does look nice, would benefit from a little weathering in my opinion.

I don't know even with the tea bath it looks too smooth. Does not flow enough.

Galactiboy 1, Flosi 0 :panic::panic:

And King, the reason they look different is because they are. Flosi used the robe from a HT figure whereas I used one from a Hasbro (I think the original one).

If it weren't for the sleeves being so form fitting I think Flosi's choice would work... but the sleeves in ANH were ginormous; his arms are lost inside of them :lol

Here's a pic of the stock figure from MWCtoys... the material on it is really just off. The pics don't look too bad, but in person it's a different story. Also it's got a bit of a yellowish tinge to it which is also problematic.

Sucky thing is if you compare it to the box art, what the proto had was pretty much spot-on in terms of color, cut and hang. But we got a much inferior production figure... as always :lol

Definitely huge differences with the box art and the figure... such a shame, how hard can it be to stick with certain details like colors?

yea it looks buckin' terrible.................:wink1:

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I actually asked Sideshow about that once... seems they source the prototype material in the US and then, actual materials for the figures are sourced overseas.

My guess is whatever is cheapest and close enough get's selected... which in many cases is far inferior to the material that is hand selected for these prototypes. Seems to me they need to buy enough material in the US, or source material they can then also source in the manufacturing country :huh

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

They could have the QC guy bring it in his suitcase when he flies over to make sure the figures are perfect.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

That would imply there is a QC guy flying over... historically it seems like most of this is done in-house and whatever the manufacturer churns out is what we get.

When Faramire showed up with abysmall paint work one of the Sideshow employees that posted here commented on how shocked they were. Seems they wouldn't be shocked if there was actual QC going on... no way a couple thousand ****ty paint jobs just "slip through". But since then figures like Indiana Jones and others have looked awful in hand.

My keg, CO2 tank and the rest of my beer ingredients showed up yesterday. Time to get busy brewing soon. :yess:
