King Kirby who helped define the medium and its visual language, was celebrated for his bombastic dynamic poses, Miller taking it to an expressive extreme.

Look. I'm the biggest Frank Miller fan you're ever likely to cross paths with. I've defended him through the years as his art got lazier and sloppier and more bizarre. Even I don't know what the hell is going on any more. Wooof.

Frank showing off some art to honor LA firefighters.

It's just really not good, is it?

He gets a pass cause he's Frank Miller. Most of the Marvel variants he's done really suck. REALLY suck. If you or I submitted those covers to Marvel we'd be laughed out of the building. But because he's Miller, they end up paying tens of thousands of dollars to use these covers.

Like Woody Allen. His movies are all the same, barely have plot, and everyone uses the same cliched dialogue he's been using for 50 years. If I wrote a script like that it would go right in the trash. But Allen gets funding to make the same movie over and over again.

Miller is in his late-stage Dali or Picasso era. Just churning out fast easy crap yet still charging an arm and a leg cause they know they CAN. It's the name that sells, not the art.

Not sure if this has been discussed upthread, but how does everyone feel about Ronin? I just re-read the series for the first time in decades. Amazing visuals, great storyboarding but... I kinda still don't get the ending. I always expected this to become a movie that would wrap it up a little more cleanly

Yeah, I've always felt that the ending was a bit lackluster after all that build up. I still really like it. The art is cool and the story and characters are intricately written.

The same can't be said for the "sequel" that was published about a year ago. It's.....godawful.

If you have time watch Comics Kayfabe discuss the book on YouTube

DKR.....Sin City.....his apex of creations. Hard to beat but I don't think he is trying to, his legend is cemented.

Daredevil - Ronin - Dark Knight - Born Again - Year One - Sin City - 300

The man was untouchable.

Then came Dark Knight Strikes Again. All-Star Batman and Robin. Holy Terror. Xerxes. Ronin II.

This crap you wouldn't line a bird cage with.

I can't think of any other creator that achieved so much, so consistently, whose work then sank to an unthinkable low.

It was very mediocre. Story was too drawn-out. Very unsatisfying conclusion.

"Last Crusade" was also very lackluster.

"Golden Child" was an abomination.
