I have to keep telling myself not to double dip for new packing. It's tough when it's Universal Monster steelbooks though. Still...I'll wait for the UHD releases.

Hello Gents...

Been an insane summer with work. Now I hope to slow down some. But I am probably going in for neck surgery soon. Been putting it off for 6 years. I think time has finally caught up to me.

On the collecting front, I have succumb to Pops! But it's not just me as the wife and step daughter have done the same.

Looking forward to Freaktacular 2017

I don't enjoy double dipping too.
If the Legacy editions of the Universal Horror Classics included a digital copy I would get those.
The newly released steelbooks have it but they're only 1 movie. I need the entire collection.
Universal can't get it right. Then again, that's probably their plan... to get fans to double dip. :(

I've never gotten into the steelbook collecting. Sometimes I get one if I see it available, but most of the time I just get whatever version is in front of me in the store or whatever Amazon offers. As long as I get the movie or show, I don't really care what the packaging looks like.

At the end of the OT run, my mom found bunch of carded Star Wars figures being clearanced out at 75 cents each. She cleared the shelves. There are a bunch of figures that have the Revenge of the Jedi ad stickers on them. She has kept them all these years, but was storing them in a large TRU bag. They have since moved, so I'm sure she still has them, but I'm not sure what kind of shape the cards are in.

Sounds like you have all your Freaktacular prizes ready to go then!... just need to get over to your mom's house to pick them up. :lol

I always try to get the limited edition packaging, usually steelbooks, if offered. I figure if I ever decide to sell off my physical media collection (fat chance, but you never know) the LE packaging holds it's value, gains value most the time, and costs the same as the normal release initially. If there's no LE release I'll usually hold off buying until the price drops, which usually doesn't take very long. That's the way I've been doing it anyways. :)

I used to love buying steelbooks. Feels more of a valuable item rather than just a disc in some plastic. Don't really buy movies anymore though - tend to just stream now.

I just never thought of buying dvd's or blu rays for their value. :lol I didn't know there was a big collector's interest in them.

Oh there's lots of interest. Even older LE DVD releases hold value. Most regular blu ray and DVD releases are only worth pennies after a few years. Might as well buy the LE releases for the same price right? It's something to consider with a descent size collection.

There is actually a thread here that is just for talking about Blu-Ray / DVD collecting. I've popped in a few times and they can get pretty serious about it.

I remember owning a Scream mask back in the late 90's. Was only about 11 years old so shouldn't have really known what it was. Scream may have been the first horror movie I watched as a kid.

I went overboard with the Scream stuff...I call this room the Scream room lol. It's pretty much filled with masks and other stuff. Thanks for the compliments!

I'm glad I never got into it--if only because that'd just be one more type of collectible I'd have to track down. :lol

Tell me about it man. That's why if I miss out on a steelbook release that I would've wanted I don't seek it out on ebay and pay a high price. It's one of my only forms of self restraint lol.

The only steelbook that matters to me this Halloween is the new Hellraiser steelbook from Arrow. Already got mine ordered!
