More like, "Honey, I know our son is out of diapers, and doesn't have any baby food to eat. But I think this is a good opportunity to potty train him (even though he is way too young). Also, I got a case of Ramen noodles so that he can get exposed to the "college experience" early in life.

:lol

I am really starting to worry about this bust now. I ordered earlier in the week through Sideshow because I love Robocop and have been following this thread from the start. From the pictures I have seen the paint looks sloppy and the bust has quite a cheap look to it. $850 is not cheap and I honestly believed Freds paintwork would be near perfect. The paint on the suit looks nice but the paintlines are very sloppy around the chinguard and where it is attatched to the base. What did he use Masking Tape??? Fred said he would personally check every bust to make sure it was perfect before sending it out. I bet if that bust was in his own collection he would fix the paintwork never mind a piece that was going on display to thousands at a convention as an indication of what he stands for. I just hope they look better when we start to get them or this could be the end of his Robocop line.

Just thank your Stars that ordering through sideshow means you can send it back. Sure it will cost you but people who ordered directly from Fred ( myself included ) are going to be stuck with it if it turns out ugly. Personally I'm not too hopeful and anything Fred promises I take with the largest pot of salt.

Here is my recent conversation. I had asked for a refund and that I didnt like the fact other sites are selling them for less then what I was paying and he had told me to wait until the convention was over to do anything and basically your getting a low number :)rotfl my thought about a low number :cuckoo:):

A,

So, I just talked with Sideshow. BBTS are NOT selling my product nor is any other discounter or entity other than me and Sideshow. BBTS has been directed to take it off their site.

The price is what you and everyone on the planet has paid - $850.

Those are the facts and I wouldn’t buy into all the internet price wars on this. This is my product, it goes to my customers for the price I set and that’s it. Sideshow is the exclusive distributor. They are not wholesaling it out anywhere. No one is stocking these. No one can. I control the product and how many go out and to who.

I don’t know what else I can tell you.

Fred

There will be an official statement after Commicon. Or you can call me at 310-234-2956 and we can talk.

I don’t BS anyone, never have.

I agree. I dont want to put a big downer on this bust or stop anybody ordering it because it still looks good and it should still be worth having. I think that the hype that this thread created (partly by Fred himself) led many of us to believe that Robocop himself would be sat in our homes. Maybe he is the "Robot Man" but when has he ever created anything with a human face before? I hate to say this but after every collectable I have received lately I am beggining to agree more and more with our friend Chris.:monkey2

For a lifesize bust that happens to be 27" tall, with automotive paint, and layers upon layers of it, $850 is really not much at all.

Don't get me wrong, $850 is a large chunk of change, but not for what we are getting.

I think some of you are expecting literal perfection and if so, I can say with confidence that you will be disappointed. I'd say every single figure and statue I have has imperfections. I don't expect this one to be any different.

So the only thing that is different from say a month ago is that Sideshow is distributing this bust as well. For the same price as Fred. Outside of the reward points and the ability for a refund if you don't like it, nothing has changed. The edition size looks to be staying the same. According to the email above, BBTS has had their stock pulled. I don't understand all the negativity. This thread has turned into almost every other thread now, where it just spirals down into complaint after complaint.

I hope when people starting getting their busts and this thread gets flooded with pics, this thread will go back to what it was prior to the Sideshow announcement.

You make some good points and this thread was one of the only positive ones running until recently. I'm sure it will be fine when they start to arrive and and anyone who collects life size busts will know they are not made to be viewed from an inch away. Its not even about the money. I just want months of excitement to be justified when I open my new collectables boxes for the first time.

The skin and the finish between the helmet and the skin isen´t good enough.........sadly It has been a wait of mine for a long long time.....I cross my fingers and go for the 1:2 robocop statue instead

If anything that would probably look worse as I highly doubt Fred will produce those. He'd make the master and then use sideshow to produce and distribute. SS would never match this paintjob.

According to Fred Barton's website, he will be making a 1:2 scale statue, so let's see.

In other news, it is rumored that Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, might be cast as Murphy in the new Robocop remake. :rock

I heard this a while back. It would be fantastic if true but he's about the tenth actor rumoured for the role.

I think he would be awesome as Murphy. I'm hoping in the remake we see Murphy for a bit longer before he gets killed.

I will respect everyones opinion on the paint, etc. but I just don't see what all the fuss is about? It looks absolutely steller imo. Beautiful details and of course paintwork. Reinny is correct when he said you will never get "perfection" You just won't.

Even Sideshows made stuff, that also sells for $700-$1000 arrive with plenty of imperfections. I received my BD Iron Man bust a little while back with freaking crooked eyes. No biggie cuz it still looks amazing.
