Chapter 2 Angriest Boy in the World nice bed time book.So David was raised by his mother and step dad who was an astronomer. We know in the comics Xavier is his father.
I'ts about getting into David's head at Summerland where some of the people are mutants.Supposedly to help him learn control.Melanie says he is the key the key to what?Is she after his power? Or really wants to help him?We see some things from his past but most of the meat he seems to be hiding from Melanie or refusing to reveal or too scared to face.Yellowman?

Weird how they throw in that he and Abbey were Drug buddies before Clockwork Asylum. Not weird for this show I guess. So So episode I'll give it another before I decide to bail or not.

Second episode was fantastic.

The more they explore the secret of David's power the better this show gets.

Why does this show go so far out of its way to make everything look like the mid-70s when it is clearly set in modern day.

I've always been confused by this insistence of everything artistic having to look like this decade. It was a very ugly time period, with a color palate that was both too muted and jarring (burnt orange and puke green everywhere), and this dreary and grimy aethstetic that just made everything look like it needed a rigorous cleaning. Just seeing it makes me feel like I want to take a shower. Its like the visual equivalent of a hangover.

Aesthetics in the 70s for me are like fashion in the 90s, haircuts in the 80s, or electronics in the 60s. A relic best left in the past.

Guardian of the Galaxy got old music and Rogue One got plenty of old style. There is plenty of entertainment based on older style to satisfy the plenty of nostalgic people. And don't reboot or they'll riot.

They've never said its set in modern day.

In fact, the lack of cell phones, use of phone booths and David's Malick-ish childhood might indicate that this is indeed a period piece.

The bad guy who is interviewing him is using a tablet and someone talks on a cell phone in one scene.

Missed the cell phone scene, but the tablet could just be early military tech not available to the public way back then.

There's clearly a romanticized 70s vibe to the show without blatantly stating the year it's set in. Similar to what David Robert Mitchell did with the 80s in the brilliant It Follows.

so is that Mojo or what?

Whomever the f it is is creepy as all hell. And the story child is creepy too. I liked last nights episode.

In the comics, all his personality are from his mind. Mojo is associated with Psylocke and Spiral, Mr. Green recall.

this episode was a real horror story.

even the creepy kid from The Angriest Boy in the World is coming to life.He chased Syd and lil' David through the air duct or was it in fact MOJO?

love that cappuccino machine..

hope they get out of summerland so that the memory stuff does not get too repetitve.

So after Episode 3 I'm confident the show takes place in 1979.

In Episode 1, Lenny asks Syd to get her a new candy bar. She's clearly asking her to buy her a Twix which made its American debut in 1979.

Bird's speech in Episode 3 about how the compound was built reinforced the above, by placing it in the late 70s.

The wardrobe and stylistic choices screamed 70s to me so it makes sense.

OK, I'm a happy camper because it doesn't look like Mojo is a part of the show. After tonight's episode, I'm convinced that David is possessed by the Shadow King.

Damn' Lenny was blowing my mind. From the first asylum episode I thought she was real. And even after that I thought she was David's stoner gal pal/room mate from even before the asylum. Now it does seem the shadow king is doing all the real manipulating of all we have been seeing. The cone head yellow eyes humpty dumpty, the puppet angriest kid in the world,Lenny, all of it. I'M starting to wonder if I'M really watching this show or is it all :lol

The monster is definitely the Shadow King. They even reference him as King. I like to self-praise as well as I did call it early on. :yess:

I really felt that the last episode was the best. Really put you in fear and finally gave us some clarity on the Shadow King as a parasite.
