Improvement with the change in the hair, but it still doesn't look like her, IMO. Face, hands and arms look way too smooth, but I guess Sideshow was trying to capture that Elvish look.

Looks much, much better with all polystone hair - may consider getting this at a discount down the road, but it's still not a must have imo.

I think it is generally the lipstick that's killing this piece. Maby it will be better in person (the production piece), it won't be the first time.

After following this one up with the moria orc I'd have to say...no :D

With you there Woodsy!! I think this is a great change up to Lurtz and Moria Orc and the next PF... (heh heh) :wacky
Personally I think the Elves and their part in the movies is so important she is an essential piece IMO.

Hey who has the Hi Res pix of this, is it Josh that gets them?? If anyone has them would they post please? Thanks

For starters, I saw it for the first time today. The 360 view shows it with the real hair and makes the piece more realistic. This sculpted hair makes it look cheesy.

Last of all, I am not a fan of LOTR. :monkey3

*hides*

I did enjoy the second one. Great flick that one was.

P.S. It's a nice piece displayed with the hood up. I actually do like a few of the LOTR PFs. Lurtz, Aragorn, and this one are really great big ticket items.

Sorry about that Eli, I didn't mean to sound like I was singling anyone out. My comments were really only intended as a general observation about the way we all can tend to overreact when we first see pictures of a piece from Sideshow.

I think the Aragorn PF production pics were a perfect example of this phenomenon. When those pics were added to Sideshow's website, the forum was flooded with posts saying how they had ruined the piece. But, as soon as "in-hand" pics started to show up, that all turned around, and many of the knee-jerk cancellations got quickly "uncanceled".

I'll have to say that's as much Sideshow's fault as our own, though. Those production photos looked pretty bad in comparison to what we had originally been shown. The actual piece is very good, but the photos don't reflect that.

Very true Robo!.:lecture And I gotta say I'm very impressed with SS. They heard our complaints and actually did something about it. There's no a whole lot of companies out there that do something like this. :clap

You got me there. The Moria Orc is a sweet looking piece and I'm glad I ordered it. 750 of each seems kinda weird. I guess I'm having a hard time wanting to be a completist in the line with Galadriel and the somewhat disappointing Gandalf.

Thumbs up with the sculpted hair. :rock Although I still would have got it with the synthetic hair I just would have been forced to display it with the hood on. With the sculpted hair, now I have a choice.

Still think I'm displaying hood up

I feel your pain....I have them [or have on order] all except those two as well. On the brighter note neither one is a fellowship character and if they're going to mess up some of the PF's I'd prefer it be non-essential ones. :)

The sculpted hair makes this more in line with a 1/4 version of the Weta one. Thing is, I think SS went cheap and instead of resculpting from scratch, they kept the skull cap portion on, and just added sculpted braids. The result is now looking as good compared to the hair on the Weta one. I'm leaning towards the Weta one being a better looking sculpt (don't flog me, this is just my opinion).

Also, the clothing on this pre-prod version looks worse than the proto, and it looks short. I'm used to Galadriel's dress only allowing a peek of her toes, and not exposing her whole feet.

With that, I'm not leaning towards owning this one, until I see more in-hand pics.

Yeah. I'm with you there. I'm sure they'll make a GTG and it will be better than GTW. I did see a regular sell for under 150.00 though. I'd jump on one if it was dirt cheap. The exclusive version is non essential. I can certainly live without Galadriel and not feel any loss. Gotta order Aragorn soon though. I think he is one you need to see in person.

Stunning detail on the outfit.
Although I much prefer the sculpted hair, she looks like its long enough to dangle out of a window so her Prince can climb up the tower and rescue her.:lol :monkey3

I don't know what it is about these PF's I just cant get into them.
I'm a 'good guy' collector and I love them Hobbits and Elves and yet the only PF I really like so far is Lurtz  :lol

Lurtz set the bar and none have hit that mark since. The Orc might. Others have been good...even very good, but no other one has been great. My opinion of course.

Definately, Lurtz imo has been a one hit wonder so far, which is dissapointing because I would love to get more LOTR PF's
I'm still wishing for my Prologue High Elven Infantryman, that has the potential to be magnificent :drool

I hope you get your wish. Human likenesses seem to be SS's downfall. Stick a helmet on or get a creature going and they do magnificent work. The marvel PF's have been great. They just have a problem with copying a real person imo.

To be honest, it's pretty depressing that they went with this when you think of all of the possible PFs that Sideshow could make. Any of the generic infantrymen would be amazing, and they wouldn't have to worry about the likeness. Or Gimli, or Gandalf the Grey. And how awesome would a dark rider PF be?
