Ah come on Cap. I know you're not feeling well but I've been dying to see your thoughts in more detail than this.

Oh all right. Drag a sick kid outta bed just to make you happy, huh?

The costume is absolutely beautiful. You can tell they've used lots of high quality satins and laces, and it seems to have one of the best done hoods in any line--Galadriel's is particularly hard because it's rolled back a bit, but they got it dead on. The pose is also perfect; the scenes with the Fellowhip leaving Lorien were, to me, the most beautiful both in the books and the movies, and seeing her in this pose struck me in the best possible way. You can almost hear her singing her lament as the Fellowship leaves the shores of that land . . .

As for character choice, this was a no-brainer. Few characters were regarded with as much love as Galadriel, at least for Tolkien. She's a primary character in The Silmarillion (my favorite), and crucial to all of the events in the later ages. She's the only one of the Elves to remain a ring-bearer from beginning to end, and as Tolkien notes in the appendices, she was the mightiest of all living Elves at the end of the Third Age. The common movie fan might question her selection, but a true understanding of the books will make it clear that she is one of the most important characters of all, and a perfect choice for a PF figure in a collection that values the story's values as much as the film translation.

Oh, and I like the likeness too.

I'm a little off topic, but...

I just finished the Hobbit and am starting LOTR (the books I'm talking about). There is so much history in this fantasy world. Almost makes for a slow read, in order to take it all in. I'm not an avid reader, so I have a feeling I'll be reading this for the next month or two.

BTW, I completely forgot about the ending in the Hobbit from when I read it as a young teen. I remembered Smog of course, but completely forgot about Bard, The Elf King, The Goblins, The Eagles, and Thorin's greed.

Aw thanks! I figure there are far worse things in life than being sick; after all, I'm still alive, aren't I? Besides, being in bed with a traumatic sickness has made me appreciate my health better, and it makes it much easier for me to care about other people! So really, I'm happy I got sick, if only because it makes me more compassionate towards others.

Yeah I'm really losing it, but I do really love this likeness, as it combines the image I have from my readings of the book combined with the beautiful portrayal of Cate mixed into it. I love it. But yes indeed, it's always great to have a variety of opinions demonstrated.

We all know the costume will be stunning, just look at GTW PF, but really not convinced that real hair and that face will carry this one off, but again wait and see.............

For the most part yes but there were some dodgy ones but I'm saying nothing, buttons get pushed when I do that!!

I do love the majority of what SS has done though so far esp the LSB range, just brilliant. Do I look cool enough now?

For those of us who aren't into just the armor and kickass war depictions and beasts and critters but also have an appreciation for a bit of the subtleties of LOTR, getting Galadriel (and hopefully the other ladies) is just great. I agree that the armor in LOTR was wonderful, but the bigger point is that the entire line of costumes was phenomenal. It was my understanding that the PF line (mixed media) was basically to show up the costuming and I've been patiently waiting for some of the richness and variety of the other costumes of other Middle-earth denizens. I might be part of a very small minority, but a little bone our way is really appreciated.

And I beg to differ...Galadriel is probably the MOST important elf in LOTR. She is definitely NOT just a small character...her influence and presence is referred to and felt throughout the trilogy, even though she may not be on screen. There was a reason that Galadriel was the character chosen to narrate the prologue and, hence, the thumbnail history of the Ring -- and it wasn't because Cate read the part better than anyone else. She is basically the Queen of the Elves in Middle-earth and one of the Eldar; she is the one who rallies her kind to help in fighting off Sauron. Just like Gandalf, her power is so great that, had she taken the Ring when Frodo offered it, she would have made Sauron look like a wimp. Of the 3 females in LOTR, she is the most fascinating IMO.

The preview is too limited to really make a good judgement on likeness I think. I was proven wrong by the Leggie LSB once all the pictures from different angles finally came out. For now, Galadriel could use a little less red in her lipstick I think.

The choice wasn't a bad one.. the scult may be off.. but people thought GTW was terrible as well and Honestly... He's a GREAT PF I like it the more I look at it!!!!
