Have a look at these pix do you think they look like the same statue? I don't think so as one she looks like her head is tilted downwards slightly and to one side and the other seems upright and head on forward. Again it could be angles of photography, we'll know in this week's newsletter hopefully!

I presume you found that second picture on the Sideshow site, but where? In any case, I can't imagine that it's anything other than the same figure -- they're not likely to do two Galadriel figures with actual hair, are they? It does look better in the second picture.

Yes it is interesting that they show a face shot for the preview but it just doesn't look right to me and I really want this statue/character to be an excellent representation of Galadriel from the movie not just a reproduction of Tolkiens' because every other PF has been based or attempted to be based on the movies. I hope you are right Darklord Dave and that we all end up pleasantly surprised but this so far, out of all of the PFs looks the most "off" IMO.

Let's face facts here, none of these representations are based on the books, they are based on the movies and the only reason anyone ever revert's to the lame line that it's accurate to the books is when the character doesn't look anything like its supposed to. I guess we'll find out this Thursday just how movie accurate it really is.

It's interesting that they decided to show the whole face in the preview. I believe for the previews for the Aragorn and Anakin PFs (generally considered some of the finest PF likenesses) they only showed a part of the body like a hand.

For the anakin yes, but for the Aragorn they showed the whole upper body. So far from what i've seen they have always shown lotr pf's (exception frodo) from the upper torso to head in the preview pics.

You're right there! So far in this line, I've only been impressed with Lurtz and Aragorn. You would think that, being a PF line, this would be THE line to collect, but at the moment I prefer the dios by FAR. Having said that, GTW looks better with real hair, maybe the sculpted hair is what was wrong with that one. Although we should be cautious....we all know how different and so much better these pieces actually look in person.

There's something about seeing a preview and seeing it in person. When I saw the GTW PF preview, I felt they didn't nail it from a gut feel. After seeing it in person at SDCC, my opinion had not changed (it got worse for me, actually). For this Galadriel PF, I can see where the costume could make up for the facial sculpt. Meanwhile, something like the Ironman Red & Gold comiquette looked interesting from the pics, but made a world of difference when I saw it in person. So, it really helps on certain occasions when you can avail of a convention to see these at. And frankly, I believe the only place we can at the moment for public viewing . . .is SDCC.

Seeing things in person and in pics can change things for people. Sometimes pics just don't make things look as good as they should (GTW PF which I'm sorry is MUCH nicer than than the detractors want to make it sound) or better than they should (Takara Batman/HT Jack Sparrow V1). This piece looks good but I won't know if I like it in general (not ordering it) until I see it @ SDCC.

I can already tell that I don't need to see the Aragorn PF in person to tell they did a bang-up job on it. This Galadriel PF on the other hand merits seeing in person. I need to see the quality of the material they chose for it (which can make or break the deal, just like the GTW PF). Ditto for the upcoming Thor PF and his clothing.

Well, sure there will always be pieces you don't need to see in person to like. However, that can be different from person 2 person. Seeing all of them in person no matter what gives you a better idea of how nice the piece really is. I'll be curious to see if they nailed this one materials and otherwise as much as I like the GTW PF.

Where did you see GTW with real hair? Did someone do a custom?

Like I said in an earlier post although I was slagging off the face on the preview pic I think the costume will be awesome on this PF you can tell just from the hood in the pic it will be very intricate and detailed but I really hope the preview is NOT doing the face justice!! I just don't know if the costume will be enough to sway me to buy this one though!!

Lurtz and Aragorn really stand alone so far in the PF line...two amazing pieces. Frodo was just OK to me, and while I agree GTW looks better in person [I know because I have one] the sculpt is not nearly as good as the Weta bust, the upper body looks abnormally long, and the pose just isn't right. So yes , I would have thought this line would be the "flagship" LOTR line for SS, but I actually much prefer the LSB and dio. lines, at least so far.
