That would be what bothers me most..Because they are not in the same league.

Or that it's just GANDALF and people will pay it?????

Yeah, well, either way, legit reason or just for the hell of it, the deed is done.

Every single thing I buy these days cost me less 10 years ago, so it would be foolish for anyone to think that the price of Sideshow products would stay the same forever.

I'm fine with the increase. In a perfect world I would only have to pay $45 for all my collectibles, but it ain't gonna happen.

The only thing that worries me is that this may turn off way to many fans, leading to poor sales, leading to the end of the line. Which would f'n suck!!!!

When it comes to the body, I agree, but everything else they're on par with HT and Medicom.

I'll have to disagree, at least when it comes to Hot Toys. I just got the Hot Toys Jack Sparrow figure, for example, and that thing is freaking amazing. I have dozens of Sideshow figures, but none of them can match the detail of the accessories or outfit. And I can't imagine Sideshow doing something like the Predator figures, either.

The two main appeals of Sideshow figures are the semi-reasonable prices and the licenses (Star Wars, Indy, and LOTR in particular). But they're starting to lose one of those advantages. I can see myself buying more Hot Toys figures if this continues.

I don't see it ending with a new movie on the way,but never say never.

I would actually be more upset if a merry and pippin were 90$ instead of 69$ like frodo and sam.(hopefully this is just a gandalf thing)

I also will stand by icruise on this one. No way they are matching the quality of the costumes. That is my biggest gripe. I really honestly could care less if they keep the buck body. Just make the heads a little smaller and fix the quality of the costumes. It also wouldn't hurt to fix some of the paint apps. Hot Toys has really come on recently. Just look at the new Rambo figures. They are amazing! They nailed everything.

I hope this thread doesn't turn into a HT vs. SS thread:lol

No way! I hope my comments don't steer it in such a way. I like Sideshow because they make great figures at a great price. I like Hot Toys as well because they make high end great figures but at a high end price. I hope that makes sense. I like both companies. Sideshow I buy as much as I can because they are great and affordable. Hot Toys I am much more selective because they are beyond great but expensive. All I am saying is if Sideshow wants to raise the price then raise your game. I will still have to be more selective but at least I won't be buying the same quality at a higher price. Again I am not taking anything away from Sideshow. Many of you have seen my collection and to say I hate them would be foolish. I love them. I would just like to know why the sudden increases.

what exactly is meant by "the quality of the costume"? i think they have all been great especially aragorn's and faramir's. just not very weathered i guess but what are you gonna do? if they had to weather them all the price would probably be $20 higher.

Nothing unreasonable about that.

Anyways my gandalf ex will stay on order in hopes of it will be on the new body if not to an online shop i go.

You just made my point. They are raising the cost and there is nothing to show for it. No weathering nothing. Do you mean it would cost $20.00 more than $89.99?

I love this figure, and cant wait to get it in!!!!!

I still wonder what justifies such an enormous price leap. I didn't see it when the hobbits where released, and I also don't see it with the recent SW figures.Things do get more expensive, but why become greedy?

...

And that is exactly what I was trying to express with this post:
Being a huge LotR and Tolkin fan, I have to say that IF SSC plans on maintaining that price point for future 12" LotR releases, I really don't mind if this Gandalf the Grey would go into history as their very last LotR 12" figure.

The line is dead! Long live the line!
If the line is in danger, it may be partially because of SSC's price politics. I don't want the line to end, but the chance that many collectors will look for other ways to spend their cash grows.

If Sideshow wants to raise it's prices, they better bring their game. People already buy Medicom and Hot Toys (their prices are up there with Hot Toys now, atleast their low end and Sideshow's high end). And both of those are imports. I knew this was coming.
