Every single thing I buy these days cost me less 10 years ago, so it would be foolish for anyone to think that the price of Sideshow products would stay the same forever.

I think some people feel they should. Hell gas doesn't even cost the same thing day 2 day or week 2 week. So why should toys stay the same.

what exactly is meant by "the quality of the costume"? i think they have all been great especially aragorn's and faramir's. just not very weathered i guess but what are you gonna do? if they had to weather them all the price would probably be $20 higher.

Yeah, I have no issues with the costuming with the exception of the Leia. The two HT figures I have both are great on the costuming as well but the paint on my Jack figure is not what I would really want on a figure that cost $150. Swann is overall MUCH better than Jack IMO.

As far as SS vs HT I don't give a damn. Why does it have to be that way. Collect what you want and be happy stop trying to compare everything.

But seriously, Sideshow is a business, and they are in business to make money. Simple as that. Why fault them for wanting to make some extra coin? Its not like these things are necessity's, like food and gas, they are luxuries we can all live without.

Someone mentioned Hot Toys and Jack Sparrow. I'd like to see Hot Toys match Sideshows price and quality for their Blackbeard, and why don't we know why Hot Toys raises their prices, yet we demand it from Sideshow.

That Sideshow distribute Hot Toys is an in road into the Asian market and possibilities of collaboration. If you can't see the benefits there's nothing I can say.

GI Joe doesn't need to be that detailed. I think they will be about $60-70.

I also don't see how a $90 Gandalf is going in HT territory. A HT Gandalf would prolly be $150.

The price is just giving people that ***** something else to ***** about.

My my my, so much controversy. I'm just glad we're getting Gandalf! He's gonna be so much fun to play with and pose and display, such trivialities as bodies and a few dollars more really couldn't do a thing to dampen my mood right now. This is going to be great! Boy, life sure is a lot better when you're grateful for what you get! I mean, really, we're getting GANDALF!!! And top-quality, too! The body is just fine (I've played with them all, the difference is just irrelevant to me), the costume looks great, and the sculpt is untouchable. My life is great!

But if they are almost the same price, they invite comparisons like this. They have to step up the quality as well. If Gandalf does have the new body, I'll be more or less satisfied about the price increase, but if not it's going to be the same figure we've been getting for $25 more.

I don't understand why people are complaining about sideshow's costuming. Have you guys seen the details on the LOTR costumes? They're def. on par with HT's. As far as HT Jack goes, the costume is great, but it has ****$y paint-job. As EvilFace said, I am sure if HT or medicom were to make a GtG figure, it would be close $150.

Um $60 isn't that close really. IMO its a pretty decent chunk of change. When they break $100 thats when I'll get nervous.

I know the LOTR figures are very very nice as nice as the two HT figures I have. I agree on the paint job on the HT Jack. It was a bit of a let down.

Its a bummer that such a kick ass announcement like Gandalf, FREAKIN GANDALF!!!!!!, is overshadowed by peoples unhappiness with the price.

It would be cool to hear how excited people are, instead of how disappointed everyone is.

$60? Hot Toys human figures generally range from $99 to $135. I think Sideshow is definitely encroaching on HT territory now. (BTW Jack was $134.99, and the upcoming Cannibal Jack who has two heads is only $129.99, so I'm not sure how you managed to spend $150 for him.)

I know, it sucks. Here we are with one of the most anticipated figures ever, it's absolutely perfect, and people are just losing it because of their perpetual demands and expectations. My expectations were high, and I am perfectly satisfied, if not a little OVERJOYED by this! I mean, look at this guy! The sculpt is flawless, the eyes and the shape are amazing, the hat has been specially made of a very particular material to make it look just right (and those softer plastics don't come cheap), and the accessories are amazing! Two staves, and one has the removable pipe and bag of pipe-weed! What more can you people want? For that price I'll gladly take it, totally more than the figures from other companies which are the exact same quality (I've seen their best figures--nothing any better in them ) yet twice the price. You people can say what you will, after all, this is a discussion board and you should be able to say whatever you feel like, but as for me, I think this is one of the best deals I've found in all my days of collecting!
