I am sorry, but $90.00 + for this figure is ridiculous. Heck, $80.00 would be pushing it, but $90.00 is just a slap in the face. I am glad I dropped the LOTR line. The figure is nice, but not $90.00 nice.

Heck, I didn't even pay $90.00 for some of the Medicom RAH figures I have.

I really hope this new price increase doesn't translate to their other lines. I.e. Star Wars.

Damn, where you get some RAH figures for less than $90 ? Hook a brother up.

This looks simply incredible. Of course I'd love it even more at $70, but prices are rising across the board. Look at what DC Direct is charging for vastly inferior 13" figures without licensing fees. The days of the $50 1/6 scale figure are over.

Well why don't you get these for cheap, too? It worked for your Medicom.

I'd rather pay $90 for this than $160 for a simple looking figure.

Exactly. Prices are going up everywhere. Before you complain about a few bucks on a figure, look at gas.

Things are in the ****ter. The dollar is low. I don't see how people can expect these to be as low as $40 even. It's not as it was before and probably never will be again. It sucks. Something like collectibles is going to feel it hard.

And without lube.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with this (to a point). Yes, gas is going up, and some other items are going up somewhat as well. But even looking at the Frodo and Sam figures that were released just last August, which to me are easily as detailed as this piece, they were $20 cheaper than this one (and many people said that the figures were already pushing the limit of affordability at that price point).

So this is a 29% increase in just six months. Outside of gas, show me the extensive list of consumer products that have experienced a 29% price hike in the past six months. I'm sure there may have been some, but none of the products I purchase on a regular basis have.

True. You're right.

We're just assuming the reasons for the price hike and I don't think any of us will really know.

We're letting our voice be heard. They heard it with The Hobbits, Han & Luke.

But it still gets more and more with each figure.

Like I said, I don't think we'll really know why. It's not something they'll tell us.

SOTA Toys was a company which gave out a lot of behind the scenes stuff about the industry and the factories. Why something cost more. Why certain things were cut out, because of cost.

That's a good point as well. I don't expect them to tell us why, but I do expect them to pay attention when a sizable segment of the customer base is as unhappy about a price increase as it appears to be in this case.

And to be honest, I don't know that they are paying attention, at least using the price of Gandalf as a data point.

If I still collected the line I would definitely hold out for lower prices. This is one figure that interests me and maybe I will purchase him, but not for $90.00.

I posted what I did to make my voice heard and so the SS peeps can see that the price increase is NOT acceptable by everyone. If I offended you and others, which it seems I have, then I am sorry. I thought that was what this forum was for - to post our opinions about company product.

I wouldn't pay $160.00 for a simple looking figure either. Although I am not sure what "simple looking figure" for $160.00 you are referring too, I am confident it isn't a medicom figure. If it is, please elaborate.

People talk with their wallets - this isn't "scare tactics" but cold, hard facts - if enough people feel that $90 is too much and they don't pre-order then this will be the last of the LotR 12". I don't think that's too hard to figure out.

Yeah, holding out won't scare them into lowering prices, they'll just drop the line and move on to something more profitable.

Didn't Brock say it in the backstage pass video?

Yes, he did and its Scott. :)

Yup prices are going up every place these items are no different.

That's what I'm afraid of. This line ending before it really gets started.

I totally missed that, but he talked about it in the video. This figure couldn't get any better!!! (though in the pictures they mixed the staves and robes, but it's cool)

These pictures totally sell it for me....I love it but $90 plus shipping......that's a lot of dough for an action-figure. I love my action-figures but more and more they are starting to feel like an investment with no return. I miss the days were most of my action-figures were $50 to $60 bucks.

I agree and this is scary to me as well. I have been collecting this line from the beginning, and I would hate to see it end as well. However, if this is the new standard of pricing, then I will have to bow out. As far as money going the door goes, action-figures still aren't that expense and it would be a lot easier if I didn't have all of these obligations and other hobbies. Who knows...maybe it's time to kick the girl to the curb!!! Jk...:rotfl:rotfl

With Sideshow now moving into the high-end of the market with HT and Medi, there really is no middle ground left. While I'm glad to see Sideshow taking their game to the next level, it really is a shame that part of the market is now gone. From now on it's either mass retail Hasbro stuff or pricey high-end pieces.

Isn't the medicom Bruce lee a pretty simple figure at a $150.00 price tag?
