Does he look lazy eyed or is it the pic ya think? I do see Ian in that bad pic though.
If you mean the blurry one, no, there's more eye white showing on the left eye than the right and it's just throwing it off.

i'm guessing a lot of that beautiful detailing in the hair is going to be lost. that's a crying shame, since that's part of what made it such a beautiful figure to me.
in that photo, but even if it's the old style head, it'll still show. The photo looks promising to me, so it should only go uphill from here.

You may still be a youngling to this whole thing... wait for some better pics. Don't make snap judgements based on a blurred out pic taken through the blister and with a flash bulb.
Do you think it's the old style or HT?
yeah, i guess i'm still really new at this. if you tell me to wait, then sure! i'm cool with that. after all, patience is a virtue. sorry to be so impatient.
Based on color, and possibly simplicity even in a sharp photo, I'm leaning toward HT style, the face has that cast flesh look, doesn't look like it's painted and the eyes seem a little simple, plus the whites on the HT styled from SSC have been more fleshy and less ivory. If I were to take my best guess, I'd say it's a cast head with eyes, hair and beard painted.
The picture's terrible though for detail, by that image he has no eyelids either. If this is an HT style head, all the details from the proto should be there.
.
That's the thing. What if it's not? What if HT is just involved when it's stuff they're involved in like the hobbits and Clonobi?
/crosses fingers it's HT-ish HS!
I don't think Hot Toys is involved with Sideshow's production. I think SSC basically took from Hot Toys how their head style works best with their body and neck joints, used those joints on their new bodies and have started using the method, but I'm not sure HT's part of getting the heads made, the quality of paint apps just isn't up to HT level yet.
Because of Gandalf's beard and hair being as it is, I'm thinking Sideshow opted for the softer material used for the HT-style heads beacuse it would give flexibility where it's a solid mass, unlike Qui-Gon who has a wig of sorts.
Gotcha, well like I said, given that they'd already started production with the softer heads on the Hobbits, I'm sure they gave some thought as to what material best suit Gandalf, to me it's the softer route to make his hair flexible for posing and easily adjusting his wardrobe, the resin or whatever they've used in the past just wouldn't have any give to it.
