What bothers me about Gandalfs price is that a lot of us will buy a $90 Gandalf, but how many will buy a $90 Saruman or Galadriel?
While its true that everything is suffering price increases, high end toys are luxury items, and luxury items are the first to be eliminated when budgets get squeezed.

The other thing that bothers me is prices creeping toward Medicom and Hot Toys ranges as if the two big boys on the block WEREN'T outrageously overpriced. It all comes down to expenses, that is production costs, painting, costumes, shipping and paying employees and the rest is profit. I have a suspicion that the reason these companies charge so much is largely because they can. And a lot of that is because we tend to be like the frog slowly boiling in the pot. Sideshow has always been my favorite for two reasons: They made my favorite licenses and they were affordable to me. I love this hobby and I'm going to be really sad when I'm priced out of it, which might not be too far off.

Personally I compare these to Hot Toys' first Aliens Colonial Marines, they were in some places priced the same (I got all the first series for this price) and had far more detailed outfits and more accessories. You can get Drake right now for this price and I feel he's the better value.
I'm most likely to eventually buy Gandalf since he's a must have, but the armored figures are just going to be too expensive.
The price of oil may have gone up but unfortunately my salary hasn't. There's just too many expensive great lines I want to buy coming all at once.

If they do that (which I HIGHLY doubt) then the price suddenly becomes very reasonable since this figure will undoubtedly be the grail for any 1/6 LOTR fan.
i hope they do do that because we could use a grail for the LOTR 1/6 and it will be a big slap in the face to those who bicthed about the price so much and then in the end decide to "settle" for him but alas, it's too late. he's all sold out. then they will bicth about that.

Well said. I think for me when it gets to a point that the figures are almost as much as the statues then I will stop buying them. I will just change the way I collect and buy more statues. Personally I like 12 inch figures because you have so many options when displaying. However, I am slowly getting myself ready to stop buying them if need be. I have allready cut out GG busts. 12 inch will be next. Another thing that would be a drawback for me would be having to wait at home to sign for them. Once they eventually go over $100 per figure then forget it. I have a job to do and can't wait at home for stuff.

Yea, maybe the two wizards MIGHT be worth $90, but if any other characters freaks $65, no way I'll get them.

And karma, man, you gotta get some sleep bro.

I'm getting one, because it's all what I've wanted since 2001, but it's hard to forget that Jedi Luke was 46.99.

:monkey5

Why doesn't Luke and Han have a backstage pass? They're almost as good as the 360 views.
