Bumping just to say that after letting the other three exclusives in the line go, I'm kind of glad that Gandalf has hung around with little interest from buyers. Now that he is displayed alone, he looks marvelous. I will still admit that Aragorn looked amazing too, and packing up Gimli yesterday to ship him off to the Netherlands was disheartening. Truly an impressive line, which I will miss collecting.

But, as I said, Gandalf is staying for now. Still my favorite piece from the line thus far. I guess I just dig the character, and I love the sweeping flowing robes and over cloak that everybody else dislikes...

...except the Josh, I know he has to like the robes too! ;)

this is definitely the center piece of the fellowship, if you have a lineup, he will be in the middle.

Mithrandir shows the way!

Gandalf EX Statue 341/400 - Sideshow

The second LotR piece I got from Slynger today.
Great statue! He ways a freaking ton! I love the flow of the cloak and the pose, the staff, the little satchel... everything.
Great great statue. Now I just need Strider and I'll consider the line complete (so far).

Gandalf the Grey is the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings...and is the hero of the story...no Gandalf no Bilbo, no ring found, no dragon dead, no frodo, etc etc...his sole job as with the other wizards was to combat Sauron and was sent by the Valar who knew Sauron was not finished yet...Gandalf is to LOTR and Hobbit as Yoda is to Star Wars..if there was only one piece to get for Lotr and Hobbit it would have to be Gandalf the Grey...no question

Maybe, but the Gandalf from the upcoming Hobbit range ;)

Also if Sauron didn't exist then there would be no reason for Gandalf to travel to Middle-Earth ;)

As to the statue, i still can't over how toyish and cartoony it looks. It's like a caricature. Face looks brilliant however.

Looks fine to me...the only thing I would have done is to add a little more wrinkle to his garb...otherwise it is nonetheless a great piece

Yeah, gtg is fine. Obviously some feel differently but that's cool for them I think it kicks ass and looks as good as any gtg item produced so far.

i agree with this assessment.

dig this statue also but i am really looking forward to the new weta hobbit gandalf. i have been trying to stick to one representation of a character but i just can't do it with gandalf...too many cool pieces.

The version weta had at comic-con looked awesome. It will be another must have great looking version of GTG.

yeah, just couldn't get over how awesome it looked. and the detail/weathering was crazy good.

Agreed. It was IMO a total eye catcher but honestly so were all the hobbit stuff wets had at th con.
