i forsee sideshow hurting in the future as they will have an oversized inventory of half walls, shacks, and arches that they can't even give away. just seems like they aren't even trying anymore. but, whatever they think will make money i guess.:monkey1

Gartoog looks cool but still feel the same on the timing of the release. The Archway is well overpriced really. $140 for that just doesnt jive for me seeing as its more exspensive than say a GI Joe figure.

i almost feel embarrassed for SST to be offering this... perhaps they really just don't know their consumers as well as they thought.

see that's the problem. they could have offered a part of the Jabba set up that would only work with those of us who already bought the throne. like throne steps and the big arch. but no. they decided to make a generic diorama piece to appeal to newb collectors. they really don't care about us long time collectors anymore.

I don't think the arch was greenlit without the people building the Jabba setup in mind, I think if anything, those are the very people they had in mind. It's a pretty bland display piece if you don't have Jabba's throne and/or the Han in Carbonite wall. Even though it's not the best addition to those pieces, I do think they had intention of helping those already building Jabba displays.

However, what you see in this particular piece really doesn't connect to anything, it doesn't feel like you could put it next to either environment we have and feel like it builds on them. Best bet would have been to have some stairs, that way it could either be steps next to Jabba's throne or even the archway where Bubo sits when 3PO and R2 first enter the throne room.

The archway is really a headscratcher to me, be interesting to see who actually buys it and what they do with it.

Except for the little dookhicky on the arch nothing really screams SW about it.

Really? SS must be slipping.... on banana peels. :gah:

Hmmmm... not sure it matter which one I get.

I kind of like the under-bite on the first. The second looks a bit like he's saying: "Hey now"

I hate the eyes on both.

Maybe I'll just pick up the sculpt at TA...after Maulfan of course.

Disagree here. I actually agree more with Craw on this. Owning both Jabba and Carbo Han, I gotta say, this is a bland display piece WITH Jabba's throne and I don't even feel compelled to buy it, not even the slightest bit. So with or without, it doesn't matter. You could just as easily display this as part of Mos Eisley as well. The fact that it really doesn't have any real substantial connection also implies it's a great "starting point" for those who don't have Jabba. The only thing that really connects it is a variant figure that's sold separately making it even less relevant.

Thats my problem. I have no idea how to include it in my Jabba display. I don't have much room so its either next to Han on the right or next to Han on the left.

I'm sticking with the first Gammy. Like you said Worgor, the old Kenner axe helps. I also don't like those beady eyes. For me, I like the underbite over the open mouth expression.
