A single Gammy release with two heads and all the axes included would have been enough. They could price him higher, but add elbow articulation, throw in a sculpted environment base like Sith Anakin's, and some random critter and it would have been a good value.

Hell, don't even go that far. They could've tossed in a "sand" stand cover like the ones that came with the inclusive Maulballs.

See, SS figures now we will all wait for GC so they just up the price, figuring sales will be slow and then people buy at say 115$ or less and they still make the money if the originally intended on 99$.

How is this more than recon????

I have no issues with this release. It's a simple variation that will be very nice for people who want two Gammys, as many said they wanted. Seems a good variation to me! AND the extra axe, which is a nice addition. I don't get the complaining. Seriously.

As to the arch, it looks nice, though I would have preferred to be able to combine two to make a full arch.

I noticed they just put Waypoint at 30% off.

I think SS is taking the Macy's approach. . . price everything 30% higher than normal mark-up, so when you have your "massive" discount sales, you make a normal profit.

This really should have been the main staircase, the arch with the windchimes, that area. That way it would have been recognizable. This is as "generic" an area you can get in Star Wars.

I thought Sideshow could have given us an option for detachable complete/broken horns. Am thinking of doing a "repair" for the broken horn now.

Re-watched the Jabba sequence, the closest thing I found that resembles this broken arch seems to be part of the arch-shaped opening to compartments opposite to Jabba's throne. Even as a stand alone piece not to be display with the throne, Sideshow could have chosen another corner with more significant.

I like the idea of cut-away section of an environment without compromising scale accuracy. However the cut section could have been done with straight edges, this piece looks like Jabba's palace been bombed.

the more i look at the environment - the more i want it but still no where near enough to pay that much...

Especially when you consider the Han in Carbonite was only $60 more and you got a huge chunk of wall as well as the Carbonite block.

I'd hate for Sideshow to stop producing Jabbas palace pieces and spin it to seem like lack of sales / fan interest. Clearly we want to buy more from this collection, just not these so much.

I can see why the second Gammy release was a slight variation. It's like troop builders. If you don't want 2 or don't like it, don't buy.

But I don't understand why they would invest so much into the arch wall. It looks great (I like the sand detail) but it's not a recognizable piece of the throne room. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

If they can the Jabba accessories because this piece sells like ass, so be it. Carbo Han and the throne are all that's necessary anyway. I'm tired of their lame tactics of squeezing collectors' balls with the threat that, "Hey, if you don't buy even our ____ty releases, we'll cancel the rest!" They have polls, comment sections, Q&A, chat as well as this forum and therefore, the means of testing collector interest to see what would be popular and what wouldn't. Not utilizing that is just ____ing straight-up laziness or blatant oversight.

As for the Gammy variant, they're cutting their own noses off by announcing it before the original ships. Look how many freaks have canceled 2nd orders to pick him up. In essence, they're losing sales by announcing him now, before the OG has shipped. Yet another brilliant marketing scheme. :cuckoo:
