A thread touched me so to speak and I must ask. Who really cares about the price of gas in the US? Does it really effect the things that you buy? My guess is no for the things that you want. So really who does this hurt? It is a resource that everyone wants. The price sucks the world sucks and so do most of you. :lol Seriously we, us, this board for the most part collect toys. Yep toys. We can afford to bathe and have roofs over our heads. Hell we can even eat! We also can afford to collect crap that won't amount to anything. Yep that is an amazing truth isn't it? Yet we complain about gas and how it hurts us for obtaining more crap? :lol This must come to an end! Wake up! Drink your flouride and realize this is life. If you can't pay for something blame yourself and not the company charging you a rate for a luxury item. If it were food that would be one thing but people are ^^^^^ing about prices of stuff they don't need. I just don't get it when people complain about the price of collectibles. This is a consumer driven market and the price is dictated by us. As long as you keep paying, they will keep charging.

well said badmoon, thank you! I also don't understand the complaining about toy prices. it's just a waste of time and a little childish imo.

Good points badmoon. I think whining about the price of gas is just something we do in the same way we complain about having to park way out at the mall. In reality given the alternative of being unable to have our own transportation (for those of us who live in places it is necessary) or not being able to walk and we would rather pay high gas prices and park way out.

It's because we are only human and most of us don't have a lot of money, so everything that we can get cheaper, just makes it that much easier to purchase other stuff. If gas had risen slowly over several years, we probably wouldn't be complaining much, but when oil goes from $25 a barrel to $130 a barrel in just under two years, it hurts and bites into everything we buy... including food! If you haven't heard, food prices are at an all time high around the world! Rice has had a 5 fold increase in price since the end of 2007 and two thirds of the world eat rice as their primary food source.

No, we don't have to buy these "toys", but without entertainment and hobbies to take our mind off this f'n world, we would all go insane or kill ourselves...

Nobody complains about the price of milk and that costs a lot less to manufacture than gas. :lecture

I stongly have to disagree. One word comes to mind. That word being relationships.

Very nicely said man. Good job!

Hey, I can afford to buy a $1700 toy and a $700 toy and many more worth tons of money. I'm fine as along as I can afford to put a roof over my head and eat. And pay for the internet to download porn. :monkey3

But I'm buying ^^^^ that is resin and plastic and metal that most people would throw into the trash if it wasn't their thing. I'm fine with the way things are going. I don't like how high the gas prices are, but there is nothing I can do about it, and neither can anyone else, so screw it. Just collect what you can afford to or stop doing it. That simple!

I'm with you there, something lacking in my life at the moment and no abundance of collectibles can change that I notice that void in my life and it's always with me.

I love collecting, but I do feel an inner conflict when I think about the rest of the world and how I spend what I do on toys. Reality is, the world could be a much better place for everyone if resources and everything were put into basic needs for quality of life for everyone. Yet at the same time, it's easy to get lost in the day to day life we see and within that, collecting is escapism and comfort from things. It's a tough issue to debate an no easy answers.

Here is my final point and I know it is harsh and tough to swallow. While we argue about toys there are kids like this and parents that can't feed them.

Next time you ^^^^^ about gas think about what it must be like to be 3 years old and weigh 10 pounds and not have food. :lecture

we would be able to buy more of the things we want if we weren't pissing our money away on overpriced necessities. gas is at the root of all we buy. since most of us don't have unlimited funds, excuse us for realizing we're getting screwed. btw, high gas prices hurts our country because retail consumer spending drives our economy. the more money we put in the tank means more bucks in the pockets of the oil companies and less dollars in the hands of our retailers.

I feel sorry for the world, but Webber and Rice summed it up for me...

Judas
Woman your fine ointment
Brand new and expensive
Should have been saved for the poor
Why has it been wasted?
We could have raised maybe
Three hundred silver pieces or more
People who are hungry
People who are starving
Matter more
Than your feet and hair

Jesus
Surely you're not saying
We have the resources
To save the poor from their lot?
There will be poor always
Pathetically struggling
Look at the good things you've got!
Think while you still have me
Move while you still see me
You'll be lost
You'll be so sorry
When I'm gone
