Re: NBA 2012-2013

It's interesting how statistics become so important when it suits their point. The past couple of years jstep gave wake a butt load of crap for always using statistics to prove his points, but now that it suits his argument......

Personally I could care less who people think is more clutch, all I know is right now Kobe is playing out of his mind - in a season where he was already playing better than he was - and whether that's clutch or not - or if something like that is even quantifiable - I really don't care. Just win the damn games.

Wait what? Youre so full of it. When did I ever give wake crap for using statistics? I use statistics all the time. I laughed when he relied on PER which I still do not subscribe to and if you notice I hardly ever quote. Don't get pissy now because I'm not defending Kobe lol

Interestingly I'd like to know where all the Kobe is so clutch supporters were when the lakers started out playing .400 ball? It's only the last 10 games or so he's been playing well that all of a sudden we get the BS clutch arguments. We'll see where everyone's at when the lakers miss the playoffs or are embarrassingly eliminated from the playoffs.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Well if stat is just one element like you say, what else is there that defines being clutch? Sportscenter highlights?

Will power to win, dedication, willingess to take shots under pressure, mental toughness, reputation, etc. There must be some valid reasons why NBA GMs picked Kobe to take the lost shot over anyone else in 10 years. They just don't use a fact stat from sportcenter. They don't say look Gasol has a better FG% and stat shows he has more rebounds than Kobe, that means Gasol is a better player than Kobe LMAO :rotfl

Like you alluded to, anyone with any NBA acumen understands that rings alone do not determine greatness because of all the different variables involved. Winning rings is not in a vacuum in of itself. However the ability to judge who is clutch is when we can set black and white parameters such as shots to win or tie with less than 5 minutes left in regulation or overtime is.

Wow Mr. Facts using his opinion now :lol and he thinks his opinion is more valuable than the opinion of NBA GMs :lol

So let me get this straight: guys who either currently play or have coached Kobe say Kobe is clutch? What a revelation! Do you really think that Dwight Howard is going to come out and say Kobe isn't clutch? Or that LeBron, Kobe's rival, is more clutch? :lol Or that an ex-coach is going to say Kobe's isn't clutch? C'mon now, let's consider the source

Are you saying all NBA GMs are currently play or have coached Kobe?:slap

How about these quotes from NBA players this year:

"Five beats one every time I look at it," Jordan told the league network of how he ultimately broke down the James-Bryant debate. "And not that (James) won't get five. He may get more than that, but five is bigger than one." - Michael Jordan

"To me, he's (kobe) the no. 1 player over the 15 years I've been in this league." - Dirk Nowitzki

“When you look back at this era there’s going to be a lot of players that you can pick from,” said Wade “You can talk about their greatness. This is a good era for basketball, and it would be led by Kobe Bryant – who was the greatest player in our era.” - Dwayne Wade (fact: wade is Lebron's teammate not Kobe)

"There's a reason why he's (Kobe) the best player in the game." - Al Horford

You must be disagree with them right? :lol

Fair enough, I read that part too, however if the author doesn't consider to be the end all be all of clutchness, then what was the point of writing it or publishing the results? And if we both agree there is more to clutchness than what the author published, it still doesn't take away the fact that LeBron was measured to be more clutch than 7 out of 8 samples. So again I ask what else can be used, if stats don't paint the picture, as empirical evidence to determine one's clutchness? I'm asking you. What are you basing your opinion on when you say Kobe is more clutch than Lebron? Other than your homerism?

You tell me you are the one who put that article and said it was a great article :lol Even the author from the article that YOU said it's great thinks there are things that stat can't measure the clutchness :lol

Remind me again how many of those rings did Kobe win without a dominant big man? I wonder how many rings Kobe would have won with a past-his-prime David Robinson or a pre-prime Tony Parker with practically no substantial free agent help? Conversely, I sometimes wonder how many rings Duncan could have won with a prime Shaq or prime Gasol with an endless amount of money and carte blanch free agency...

Oh now Mr. Facts using his imagination, what if...what if...I can also do the same I wonder how many rings Kobe would get if in his prime time he had Tony Parker as his point guard instead of Smush Parker, I wonder if Duncan could still get a ring in 1999 if the season was not short :lol

Now you are using other than facts to prove your point how ironic :slap

Bringing up the fact that the Lakers have 17 titles couldn't be anymore irrelevant. Besides the 5, others are ancient history have nothing to do with Kobe.

If I were to buy the GM argument (which I have to laugh at because it's a mediocre argument you have) maybe it's because from 1999-2009 there was nobody else to really compare to Kobe.

Think about it. It was before LeBron and Durant were in their primes. The only other players that even comes close to Kobe during that time is T-mac and 'Melo and granted I would say Kobe is more clutch than those two. However once more clutch players came along, Durant and LeBron, the GM's realized that Kobe wasn't as clutch and wisely rescinded their praise. So of course Kobe would be most salient on GM's minds at that time.

Now you're changing the argument. They are quoting who the best is.:slap That's wholly different than most clutch which was your statement. I never said LeBron was a better player. keep your arguments straight :lol

You tell me you are the one who put that article and said it was a great article :lol Even the author from the article that YOU said it's great thinks there are things that stat can't measure the clutchness :lol

Then if stats don't say what defines clutch, then what does? And if you say it's intangibles like "Will power to win, dedication, willingess to take shots under pressure, mental toughness, reputation, etc." then LeBron has exhibited all of these, hence the accolades.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

WHo cares? Seriously. Kobe is great. Top 10 all time. Some would argue top 5. Lebron is great too. He will be up there when his career is finished. Just enjoy.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

I don't care but apparently Laker homers do. Like I said, I don't have a pony in this race, it doesn't matter to me. All I was doing was educating a homer.

But they know Kobe's reign is almost up and they be maaaaaaad :lol

His reign? As what? Best player not on a championship contender? LOL. Lakers are winning **** as long as Lebron is playing. A for the next two years (At least) thats in miami!

My favorite part of their title praise is never once did the Lakers acknowledge the Minneapolis titles back in the day. I think they added MPLS accomplishments back in the early 2000's. It was only when they started winning titles again and started getting closer to the Celtics' record did they piggyback off MPLS accomplishments but only Laker fans take pre-LA accomplishments seriously :lol

I mean, I can't think of one other franchise that counts titles from before they moved. :lol:rotfl

Los Angeles Lakers only have 12 titles....not the 17 BS they claim...that's why one of the reasons I can never take that fan base too seriously...

I can't speak for others but again I don't care about this clutch argument - so no I'm not upset that you're not defending Kobe, it's not like you dissing Kobe is some new revelation - but to say he only started playing well the last 10 games is just blind hating.

That GMs survey article was dated Oct 22, 2012 so it is including last season. Last season GMs picked Durant as the most clutch player, but I was talking about overall clutchness between Lebron and Kobe during their whole career not just this year or last year, I said Kobe is more clutch than Lebron.

Well we also touched about greatness in our argument that's why I brought that up. Btw why would I think you believe Kobe was a better player than Lebron when you believe Gasol was a better player than Kobe :slap:lol

Btw another win from the Lakers :yess:

Ok fine 12 it is, still 8 more than Spurs :lol

C'mon you can't tell me there is a marked improvement in Kobe's game in the last 10 games or so? Srsly?

Not according to empirical evidence, but believe what you want to believe. Ignorance is bliss, I guess...

I never said better player overall but in those 2 Finals, yes he was.

The Indy Colts do.

I have googled it and nowhere do I see Baltimore Colts championship banners in their dome, only Indy...but if they did that's like what, one other pathetic team out there out of how many?

Ok fine 12 it is, still 8 more than Spurs :lol

Apples and oranges, big market little market. The Lakers are blessed with so many other opportunities more than perhaps any other professional team not named the Yankees, it's not even funny.

Let's make the playing field level and compare quality over quantity. Spurs are undefeated in Finals appearances. How's that for a comparison?
