If they have to play in the different eras do they also have to use that equipment? So if they play with Russell short shorts maybe a belt and some low tops or chucks :lol

I honestly don't get the "Player X wouldn't be successful in Era Y" argument, especially if the player in question is a great player. If a player can shoot the ball with accuracy, that skill will translate across eras. If a player can play great individual defense, that skill will translate across eras. If a player has a high basketball IQ and court vision, that skill will translate.

The silliest argument I hear in other sports forums is that "Oh Lebron, would never be as successful as he is now in the 80's". BS I say. Does he look around for a call anytime he gets touched? Yes...but so does every other player in the game. Like the saying goes, "Don't hate the player, hate the game". This is how the NBA is reffed now, and players have adjusted accordingly, and expect calls.

The other fallacy to that argument is that it ignores that any player wouldn't adjust his game accordingly. So the argument is that Lebron gets magically transported to the late 80's and plays against the Bad Boys, and all of the sudden he's not smart enough to change or adjust his game to that style of play? Doesn't make sense to me.

The only players I could see have trouble adjusting are 80's era big men suddenly playing now, because it is a guard's league.

And maybe James Harden, LOL. When his shot is on, it's deadly, but his game is predicated so much on drawing fouls (which IS a basketball skill in today's NBA).

Exactly.....the bigger cop out is making statements that'll never be proven X player could play in any era and dominate versus taking actual factual information. But to each their own....

I enjoy your gusto HulkCollector....Curry would bury many of the "greatest" "GOAT" in a shooting contest for certain....

I would have loved to have seen Curry and Reggie Miller go at it. Can you imagine the shooting clinic those 2 could have put on?

Very well said Dino. I especially agree with your comment about big men from past eras playing in today's NBA. The League has changed so much in the 80's/90's. It most definitely has become a guard driven League and I really believe some of the big men from yesteryear would struggle playing today. It's much harder playing a half court game against teams today. The pace is so fast and the ball is constantly getting pushed up the court. It is a much different game nowadays. That all said, I'd still take Hakeem even today. That man had amazing body control and movement for a big man. He did move like a guard and I loved watching him play.

Hakeem was awesome. More of a finesse big man. His dream shake and drive to the basket/ball fake was so incredible that a POINT GUARD, Rajon Rondo, imitated it 10-15 years later.

It took a while for me to accept the change in the NBA. Growing up and watching the NBA in the 80's/early 90's, it was ingrained that you played inside out and needed a dominant big man, and that a "jump shooting team would never win a title". Things change, LOL.

This is funny because this guy isn't even as good as our second best player clay.

I've watched ALOT of basketball over the last three years and I don't get the hype on this guy. Clay Thompson any day any night and he's our second option.

Definitely. Seeing guards take over the league was an eye opening experience for me as well. Back in the day it was all about dominant big men and getting the ball inside to them. It's a completely different game today.

Man, I couldn't disagree with you more. Kobe was a hell of a player.

Clay sucks. I would take Mark Madsen over him. Plus he can dance which is a huge plus in my book. If I had a book on NBA players who could dance that is.
