GSW are overrated. I still don't see what makes GSW a "super" team. I think Durant makes them great, but clearly without him they're just ok. If Curry and Green were so great to make them a super team, then they would have probably won against the Raptors without the need of Durant.
It's kind of sad when everyone chooses Brooklyn over the Knicks. In reality though, looking back at history, the Knicks have never been much of a free agent destination in my life time. Carmelo is the biggest guy I can remember them getting? I'm not convinced KD and Irving will take that team to the top.
5 all stars on one roster (including Cousins) with a finals MVP coming off the bench. The best shooting backcourt in NBA history and then add the best scorer in the league in KD. Before KD came, they broke the Bulls record for wins in a regular season. How could these things make them overrated? I would agree with you if you said Curry was overrated. A lot of people put him in the top 5 in the league.

Actually, this year/season, they had 3 allstars, not 5. Cousins was shell of himself and barely did anything. Curry seems to always under perform in the playoff and finals when it matters most. Yes, they beat the Bulls season record a few years ago, but didn't win the championship, so it's basically meaningless. Without KD, they're a good team, a contender, but no different than other top teams. KD makes them a great team, but I wouldn't call them a super team. We'll see how much of a super team they are next season if KD indeed leaves them.
I didn't mean they were AS's this year, but they are recent, relevant AS caliber players. It's not like they are past their prime. If that kind of roster doesn't make a super team, I don't understand what you think makes one?
Assuming they remain healthy and return to form......that's a contender in the east. It be great for Butler and Leonard to stay in the east as well make it a bit more interesting.
DeAndre is mediocre at best now. He will be picked apart by pick and roll by other teams. I definitely do not see them as a contender next season unless KD comes back around the All Star break or earlier.

Agreed. The Nets may be a contender in year 2 of the KD/Kyrie era, but Irving left a better team in Boston to sign with a Brooklyn Nets that has less talent (I’m not counting Kevin Durant until he actually makes it back onto the court) and lesser coaching.
Didn’t mention anything about next season, I mentioned everyone stays healthy and returns to form it’s a contender in the east. Boston, Milwaukee maybe Philly and Toronto (assuming their stars stay) who else gonna have a better 1:2 with the assumptions I’ve made?

There are a ton of variables, so I think it’s pretty hard to predict. If KD comes back at 100%, then you are very likely correct. But KD will be probably past his prime age-wise, and coming off a potentially devastating injury which ends careers for many players. So it’s really hard to predict how KD will perform. DeAndre is a center from a prior era, so he’s no major upgrade. Kyrie is a fine player, super talented, but I just don’t think he’s a winner.
So it all comes down to KD. In theory the Nets could be repeating their Pierce/KG signings, they could be seriously over paying for players who can’t win and are past their prime. I can see this going either way.

That team has potential.
I got that, I just think it’s a big assumption considering KD’s age and injury type. So far there’s only really one NBA superstar who has ever fully recovered from an achilles injury and that was 30 years back. Let’s hope KD can be a repeat of Dominique.

I'm sure the Nets paying a one legged KD so much money is a good business move as far merchandise and ticket sales go, but I don't consider them a legitimate championship contender even if KD comes back 100%, if he even does come back at a 100% at all. By then, Irving will be 29, and probably less healthy than ever. The guy has never played a full season in his career.
