Re: NBA 2012-2013

Are you going to disappear like before if the Heat lose because you are notorious for only showing up when the Heat win.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Hope the Heat trounce them, but sadly the gambler in me is taking the Spurs in 6.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Oh shut up... You were MIA after your Lakers got drubbed. Brodie deleted the entire thread last year!

Who's Brodie? I was here. I'm around win or lose for my team.....unlike you who only post when it's going good.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

My guess will be either Heat in 7 or Spurs in 6.

Not a fan of either team, but I have a lot of respect for Duncan, hope this will be a great final.

If Heat lose, most likely they won't keep the big 3/somebody will leave.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

I think the Heat will take the championship series in six games. Spurs haven't really been challenged, yet, having swept the Lakers and the Grizzlies. Golden State, with their athleticism, took San Antonio, to six, but didn't have the pedigree or experience yet to defeat the Spurs.

Meanwhile, the Heat just got through a tough series with the Pacers and are battle tested. Kawhi Leonard will probably get the primary defensive assignment on Lebron, but at this point, is no Paul George.

Tim Duncan is a true professional, but at this stage in his career, will not be able to defend the rim the same way that Roy Hibbert did.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Nah, more likely the Spurs will dominate game one so much, humiliating the Heat so badly that they will just forfeit the whole series to avoid further embarrassment. So, Spurs in 1.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

spurs might sweep

Interesting Duncan/Hibbert analysis considering Duncan averaged more blocks per game during the regular season and finished higher in dpoy voting but somehow there is a drop off in defense because of "this stage in his career"?

Plus I don't see how "being tested" is a valid consideration if the Spurs are just a better, more efficient team than their western conference counterparts. The Grizzlies are a poor man's Pacers and the Warriors are one of the most explosive offensive teams in the NBA. Are they suppose to purposely play down to their competition in order to be tested when they face the Heat in the Finals?

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Good point on Duncan averaging more blocks than Hibbert, however, do you honestly think Tim Duncan at 37 will be able to rotate and cover as much ground as Roy Hibbert at 26? It's not like the Heat drove to basket directly at Hibbert, he was able to rotate over quick enough to alter shots. I know you're a die hard Spurs fan, but that wasn't intended as a slight on Duncan.

As far as my "battle tested" theory, that's all it is: a theory. It could go either way, Miami may be tired after their slugfest with Indiana and that could affect them. Who knows? But I'm hardly the first person / pundit / layman to suggest that going through a tough playoff series doesn't prepare a team for adversity. Anyways it's just a opinion...just like your opinion that the Pacers were better off going back to Indiana 1-1 than being up 2-0 on the Heat.

We're all fans, we all have our opinions, but the fact of the matter is, the game will be decided by the players on the court, not our opinions.

No, I'm basing it off skill set nothing more. Duncan is at the same level if not better than Hibbert defensively.

Now if you were to say the Spurs don't have the defensive presence i.e. bigs that the Pacers have which would leave Duncan as the sole defender of the rim, that I could see. I could see LBJ or whoever driving to the basket, Duncan rotating to help and then LBJ dropping it off to one of his guys for an easy dunk, that would make sense. That has nothing to do with his mobility.

But if you're saying that it simply comes down to age at this point as the sole reason for the potential for drop off, I'm speechless.

But you're right, we'll find out soon enough.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

I think anyone doubting Pop and the Spurs is making a huge mistake. This is a class one organization with professionals they'll come ready to play and not make the mistakes the Pacers did.

Re: NBA 2012-2013

Spurs do have an advantage on the rebounding in my opinion. Duncan alone makes it so. I hope Pop plays Blair in this series, He's a great rebounder.

Couldn't of said it better, of course I realize this series could go either way and I'm pretty nervous for my team.
